When Jesus asked the man at the pool of Bethesda if he wanted to be made whole, the man never actually answered. Instead, he gave an explanation: Sir, I have no man to put me in the water, and while I am coming, another steps down ahead of me.

Every word of it was true. And every word of it had kept him stuck for thirty-eight years.

“Wanting to be free and expecting to be free are not always the same thing.”

Some people carry a condition so long they stop believing today could be the day it changes. Jesus was not just offering healing; He was confronting the doubt that thirty-eight years had built up around it.”

That’s the challenge for us this week: don’t let the length of the struggle determine the size of your expectation.

Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep making room for God to move.

What has been this way for a long time does not have to stay this way forever.
