INSPIRE—Our Mission
The INSPIRE volunteers are planning to resurrect a successful program that came to an end due to the pandemic.
We know that lapses in educational programs, also caused by the pandemic, generated learning difficulties for many of our students. We hope to utilize the skills of our volunteers, many of whom are teachers, to aid students.
Our program will provide young people with mentoring and educational support that can help them develop into healthy and productive adults in our society. Our workshops will include career/college exploration, educational skills, cultural learning, community service, money management, goal setting, communication skills and the development of self-esteem. The program will meet one Saturday a month beginning in October 2025 and is open to participants between the ages of 13 and 18.
The INSPIRE (I Now See Power In Reaching Excellence) program also aims to help young people evolve as the leaders of the city and the nation. Community service activities and the development of good skills are important parts of the program as students learn to share and “give” back. Learning how to work cooperatively with others is critical in today’s society, as is addressing the needs of the less fortunate.
Parents are encouraged to participate in the program, as we are aware of the significance of parental involvement and support. We hope to address the ills of the public school system such as chronic absenteeism and low academic achievement levels. When possible, we will connect with other community organizations as we truly believe “it takes a whole village” to lead our youth on the path to success.
