Circle of Hope

Circle of Hope Circle of Hope has disbanded as a church. It operated as a network of congregations in Philadelphia and South Jersey for almost thirty years.

One congregation has closed, and the other three are reforming as new churches. See posts below for contact info. We are a church of four congregations in Philadelphia and South Jersey that meet on Sundays. The Sunday meetings are designed to gather us in a way that Jesus can be seen, the truth can be told, and spiritual habits can be formed. During the week we hold small groups we call cells. Eac

h group will have its own unique character that reflects the people who join it. But each cell includes, in varying degrees: time for mutual support, time for learning, and possibly a time for caring for people outside the group.

Germantown congregation

As a worshiping community centered on Jesus, for now we simply call ourselves a Germantown congregation. We meet on Sundays at 3pm for worship, with a potluck meal and community meeting on the first Sunday of every month. With roots in peacemaking, justice and simplicity of the anabaptist tradition,...

💐This Sunday is Mother’s Day, so at our Sunday Meetings we will be reflecting on mothers in different ways.

In South Philly, Rachel will give a talk on the mother nature of God - her gentle and indefatigable commitment to our life and wholeness. We’ll explore God's qualities that patiently and actively bears witness to pain, tends to wounds, holds space for our healing, and keeps birthing something new.

In Fishtown, Caz and Julius will lead us in guided, therapeutic drumming to reflect on our mothers and mothering for Mother's Day.

This will consist of three movements: 1. thinking about our meaningful experiences with our mothers and mothering, 2. grieving the losses of mothers in our lives, and 3. lamenting the difficult relationships or estrangement we might have with mothers.

We know Mother’s Day can be difficult for many people, so join us in any way you are able to.

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.

Lent is the season of silence, solitude, and prayer. During Lent, we make space for grief and are attentive to our own suffering and the suffering in the world. We are entering the great 40-day fast with millions of other Jesus followers – those living and those who have gone before.

This is an evening of silence, punctuated with some words, songs, and movement. We need silence to find the spiritual place where Jesus is with us in our suffering and we are with Jesus in his suffering.

Join us at 2212 S Broad St and 35 W Chelten Ave at 7:30pm, or 2007 Frankford Ave at 8pm. Zoom is available for all services (links in bio).

Well then join us for our Super Bowl watch party after our Sunday Meeting at 2212 S Broad St! We’ll pray for the birds and then be in a prime location to storm the streets after they win (in a friendly, cheerful way. we do not condone any violence or pole-climbing). 🦅 🏈 🍕

Worship - 5pm
Watch Party - 6:30pm
