Congratulations to Baby Thomas for his Baptism today! Bless Meg and Tess, Godparents, and Family for their commitment to lead Baby Thomas to love and serve the Lord.

Reflect today on the first step of reconciliation outlined by Jesus in the Gospel: “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone.” See yourself both as one who is sinned against and as one who sins. Identify the offenses that diminish love. Confront those sins with courage and humility. Reject the false comfort of resentment, and seek instead the true consolation that comes from unity and charity.

Rejoice! Today is the Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Reject the lie that suffering is meaningless. Choose instead to lay down your life in love with Christ, and in doing so, you will rise with Him, victorious over every sin and diabolical lie, overcoming even the sufferings of this life through your free and faithful embrace.

“Five loaves and two fish are all we have here.”
he said the blessing, broke the loaves,
and gave them to the disciples,
who in turn gave them to the crowds.
They all ate and were satisfied"

from our Gospel reading today (Matthew 14:13-21)

God provides abundantly for our spiritual nourishment. When received with faith and trust in God’s providence, Jesus’ Body and Blood nourishes every virtue within us, empowering us to flourish spiritually.

Thank you to our Youth for leading our mass today and thank you to Maryknoll Missionaries for speaking on their profound work in Kenya. Thanks be to God that Br. Al is back, continue your prayers for his further healing.

Thank you to those who came out to our peace rally on July 29th at the Philadelphia ICE Office. Keep in prayer those 26 individuals who have unjustly perished in ICE detention.

"'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field?
Where have the weeds come from?'
He answered, 'An enemy has done this.'
His servants said to him,

'Do you want us to go and pull them up?'
He replied, 'No, if you pull up the weeds
you might uproot the wheat along with them.

Let them grow together until harvest;"

(from our Gospel reading today Matthew 13:24-43)

Lord may we grow with the weeds in peace and unity. We are called to live together as a family. Even when the world seems overwhelmed by sin or division, remember that the sowed seeds are at work.

"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.

(from our Gospel reading today Matthew 11:25-30)

Thank you Fr. Peter Albano for your sermon today. He spoke of the portal of love, obedience, humility and meekness that can nourish our body, heart, and spirit in times of understanding and restlessness.
