The Promises of God

God has made countless promises to His children, and unlike the promises of people, God’s promises never fail. Through Scripture, we are reminded that no matter what circumstances we face, God is faithful, present, and working according to His perfect will.

In Matthew 28, Jesus gives us the promise that He will be with us always—even to the very end of the age. In John 14:27, He promises to give us a peace that the world cannot give. These promises remind us that we do not have to walk through fear, uncertainty, trials, or loneliness alone.

Throughout the Bible, God promises peace, strength, guidance, forgiveness, provision, salvation, and eternal life. His promises are not dependent on how easy our circumstances may be. They are dependent on who He is—and God is faithful.

When life feels uncertain, we can stand firmly on what God has said. His promises give us hope when we are discouraged, peace when we are troubled, and strength when we feel weak. We may not always understand what God is doing, but we can always trust the One who made the promise.

God’s promises are not empty words—they are an anchor for our faith. Whatever we face, we can hold onto His Word, knowing that what God has promised, He is faithful to fulfill.

Welcome to the official page of Pine Grove Baptist Church! We’re a small Southern Baptist church nestled right here in Phenix City, Alabama, and we’re so glad you found us!

There’s something special about a small church. We may not be the biggest congregation in town, but we believe that church isn’t about how many people fill the pews—it’s about the people who gather together to worship, learn, encourage one another, and grow closer to God. ❤️

We live in a time when so many people have stepped away from church. Some have been hurt by the church. Some have simply gotten out of the habit. Some feel like they can worship God just as well on their own—and while there is absolutely nothing wrong with spending time with God wherever you are, we believe there is something beautiful about coming together as His people.

Church gives us a place to worship together, hear God's Word, sing together, pray together, build relationships, and find encouragement when life gets hard. Sometimes we need someone sitting beside us who understands what we're going through. Sometimes we need a kind word, a helping hand, or simply a reminder that we don't have to walk through life alone.

And that's what we want Pine Grove Baptist Church to be—a place where you can come as you are. ❤️

You don't have to have everything figured out. You don't have to know every Bible verse. You don't have to be a lifelong Christian. Just come.

Our pastor, Phillip Camp, has a wonderful gift for teaching God's Word in a way that is easy to understand, practical, and relatable to everyday life. And Mr. Gerald helps lead us in worship by choosing the hymns that bring our congregation together in song.

Whether you've been in church your entire life, haven't been in years, or have never stepped through our doors before, you are welcome here. And if Pine Grove isn't the church for you, that's okay too! Our hope is simply that you'll find a church family where you feel welcomed, loved, and encouraged to grow in your relationship with God.

It is easy to look the part. We can dress like a Christian, speak like a Christian, go to church, carry a Bible, and even know the right things to say. But Jesus reminds us that looking holy on the outside means nothing if our hearts are far from Him.

In Matthew 23:27–28, Jesus compares religious leaders to whitewashed tombs—beautiful and clean on the outside, but full of death and uncleanness on the inside. His words are a powerful warning against hypocrisy: don't just appear to be something; actually be it.

God isn't concerned with the image we present to other people. He sees what is happening in the places nobody else can see—our thoughts, our motives, our attitudes, our character, and our hearts.

There is a difference between having the appearance of faith and actually living out our faith. We can fool people, but we cannot fool God.

This challenges us to examine our own lives. If we say we are followers of Christ, does our life reflect Christ? If we say we love others, do our actions show it? If we say we trust God, do we live like we trust Him? If we call ourselves Christians, can people see Jesus in the way we live when nobody is watching?

Jesus isn't asking us to pretend to be perfect. He's asking us to be genuine.

Our outside should match our inside. Our words should match our actions. Our profession should match our practice.

Don't just look like a Christian. Live like one. Be who you say you are.

The Anchor for Every Storm

Life is full of unexpected storms—trials, heartbreak, uncertainty, and seasons where we cannot see what lies ahead. In those moments, God calls us to trust Him completely rather than relying on our own understanding. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us that when we acknowledge the Lord in every area of our lives, He promises to direct our paths.

An anchor keeps a ship steady during rough waters. In the same way, Jesus Christ is the anchor of our souls (Hebrews 6:19), holding us firm when the winds of fear, doubt, and discouragement try to pull us away. Our circumstances may change, but God's character never does. He is faithful, trustworthy, and always working for our good (Romans 8:28).

When the storms of life come—and they will—don't anchor yourself to your emotions or circumstances. Anchor yourself to Christ, trust His promises, and He will faithfully guide you through every storm.

Want to hear more? Join us tomorrow morning at 11:00 EST as Pastor Philip Lee Camp opens God's Word and we discover "The Anchor for Every Storm" from Proverbs 3:5–6.

In a world filled with uncertainty, learn how trusting God completely can bring peace, direction, and hope through every trial.

The church is much more than a building or a place we attend each week. It is a family brought together by the love and grace of Christ. In 1 Timothy 5:1-2, Paul reminds us that our relationships within the body of Christ should reflect the same honor, patience, and love we show our own families. Older men are to be treated as fathers, older women as mothers, younger men as brothers, and younger women as sisters with absolute purity. This passage calls us to move beyond casual fellowship and embrace one another with genuine care, respect, encouragement, and accountability. In a world where kindness and honor are often overlooked, God's people are called to be different. We are to build each other up, protect one another, and demonstrate Christ's love through our words and actions. When the church functions as the family God intended, it becomes a place where people find acceptance, healing, wisdom, and hope. May we strive to love one another as Christ loves us, remembering that every believer is a valued member of God's household, united by faith and called to reflect His heart to the world.
