Let us join together to celebrate Bishop Mario A. Avilés.
The community is invited to a Mass of Thanksgiving for Auxiliary Bishop Mario A. Avilés as he concludes his ministry in the Diocese of Brownsville. The Mass is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle-National Shrine.

His farewell to the Diocese of Brownsville precedes by a week his installation as Bishop of the Diocese of Corpus Christi at 2 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, the Pro-Cathedral of that diocese.

Congratulations Bishop Mario!

With great joy, the Diocese of Corpus Christi announces the appointment of the Ninth Bishop of Corpus Christi: Bishop Mario Avilés, C.O.
Bishop Avilés comes to us from the Diocese of Brownsville, where he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop in 2018. We invite everyone to join us in prayer as we welcome our new shepherd and give thanks to God for this moment of grace in the life of our diocese.
A live press conference will take place at 10:30 am to introduce our new Bishop, Bishop Avilés, to everyone in our diocese.
