At Union, we are not apolitical - that posture surrenders too much of the church’s prophetic voice and witness. Instead, we do the work of redemption, justice and love together, choosing to follow the way of Jesus.

In Mark 7, Jesus was clear and incisive against the Pharisees when they used their authority for self-gain. He rejected the empire and the use of power to indoctrinate and control. As we vote in the coming days, may we remember the way of Jesus, which teaches us to be people who are filled with self-sacrifice, humility, justice, and a fierce love for all of our neighbors.
