The mission of The Salvation Army is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. William Booth founded The Salvation Army on July 2, 1865 to care for the poor and save souls. The Petoskey Corps is a church with regular Sunday Worship Services and other fellowship opportunities. The Corps also provides many year-round social service programs and
services for struggling individuals and families. Some examples are: Emergency Financial Assistance to help with utilities, rent, auto repair and other emergencies, a food pantry, community meals, child and senior programs, support services for those recovering from substance abuse and more. Donations to The Salvation Army of Petoskey stay local and $.82 of every dollar donated goes back into the community through various programs and services. Proceeds from the Thrift Store (located at 1615 Clarion Avenue in Petoskey) also support its local programs and services.
