Bay View was founded in 1875 by Michigan Methodists as a camp meeting "for intellectual and scientific culture and the promotion of the cause of religion and morality." From its beginning, the Association has welcomed persons of any denominational affiliation who have desired to assist in perpetuating the Association's principles and purpose. By the late 1800's, the Bay View Association had become

a pioneering institution in public education. It boasted an ambitious summer university, a Chautauqua series attracting tens of thousands of visitors, and a home-study program enrolling men and women across the nation. During this period, the raw territory where the early "tent city" was built was transformed into a resort community of such Victorian charm that in 1987, Bay View was designated a National Historic Landmark.

Join us tomorrow night, September 7th, for our Monday Night Movie, Bob Trevino Likes It! (PG-13).

This comedy-drama follows a woman estranged from her cold, self-centered father who accidentally befriends a lonely stranger who shares her dad's name on Facebook. Their unlikely, platonic friendship ends up healing them both. This movie is a must-watch!

The last day of curbside recycling is Friday, September 11th. Please have your recycling containers at the curb by 7:30 a.m.

After this date, recycling can be taken to:
-The Recycling Station at D&W
-The Emmet County Transfer Station

Curbside trash pick-up will continue until Monday, November 2nd. Trash needs to be in Bay View light blue trash bags, available for purchase at the Wade Administration Office (M-F, 9 - 5 p.m.) and Russell Hall (M-F, 8 - 4:30 p.m.).

Bay View is part of Heartflight. 🕊️

This fall, Bay View joined a community-wide art installation inspired by Great Lakes Performing Art Center's Come From Away by folding paper cranes for Heartflight: A Collective Expression of Hope, Compassion, and Connection.

The tradition of folding 1,000 paper cranes, known as senbazuru, is rooted in wishes for peace, healing, and good fortune. Heartflight brings that tradition together with the true story at the heart of Come From Away—the kindness of strangers, the strength of community, and the moments that bring people together.

We’re proud that Bay View’s crane-folding is part of this beautiful collective expression. ❤️

If you’re in the area, we invite you to visit the installation and look for the cranes folded by Bay View.

A wonderful reminder that even a small gesture can become something meaningful when we create it together.
