On this Feast of the Holy Trinity we pray for justice, unity and peace in our suffering world. From Pope Francis:
"Our being created in the image and likeness of God-Communion calls us to understand ourselves as beings-in-relationship and to live interpersonal relations in solidarity and mutual love. The Feast of the Most Holy Trinity invites us to commit ourselves in daily events to being a leaven of communion, consolation and mercy."

Since Sr. Maria Isabel's feast day, the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, falls on Sunday this year, it isn't celebrated liturgically. So we're having her feast day meal today: Parmesan chicken, sweet potato fries and blondie brownies!

Pentecost Sunday. From Pope Francis:
"The gift of the Holy Spirit has been bestowed upon the Church and upon each one of us, so that we may live lives of genuine faith and active charity, that we may sow the seeds of reconciliation and peace. Strengthened by the Spirit and his many gifts, may we be able uncompromisingly to battle against sin and corruption, devoting ourselves with patient perseverance to the works of justice and peace."

7th Sunday of Easter, from St. Augustine:
"How can we know whether or not we have received the Holy Spirit? Let each one question his own heart. Let him examine and test himself in God’s sight, to discover whether he harbors in his heart a love of peace and unity, a love of the Church as it extends throughout the length and breadth of the world. Let him not look for love only of the brother who is present, for we have many whom we do not see, but with whom we are united in the Spirit."

Feast of the Ascension of the Lord. (May also be celebrated on Sunday.) From St. Augustine:
"No longer will you find Christ speaking on earth; in the future he will speak from heaven. Why will he speak from heaven? Because his members are being trampled underfoot on earth. He spoke to Saul the persecutor from above, saying: ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? I have ascended to heaven, but I still remain on the earth. Here at the Father’s right hand I sit, but there I still hunger and thirst and am without shelter.’"

6th Sunday of Easter. If you love me, you will keep my commandments. From Pope Francis:
"The Lord today calls us to respond generously to the Gospel’s call to love, placing God at the center of our lives and dedicating ourselves to the service of our brothers and sisters, especially those most in need of support and consolation."

5th Sunday of Easter. From Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI:
"True freedom blossoms when we turn away from the burden of sin, which clouds our perceptions and weakens our resolve, and find the source of our ultimate happiness in him who is infinite love, infinite freedom, infinite life. In his will is our peace.”
