Petersburg First Baptist Church

Petersburg First Baptist Church Our vision is to see God glorified as people from Petersburg and every nation under heaven become fully devoted followers of Christ Jesus Some think religion.

What comes to your mind when you hear the word “church”? Most people think first about a building. Others might say Christmas pageants, potluck dinners, pipe organs and so on. Jesus defines church as those who give their lives to follow Him. Not just the Sunday morning crowd, but the 24/7 followers. Those who love God above anyone and everything else. Those who show God’s love toward others. Those

who take the message of the cross to their neighbors and the nations. Jesus declared, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). People who follow Jesus don’t just go to church, they are the church. They’re not into pursuing religion, but a relationship. They live in His light and shine out His light for all the world to see, that God may be glorified. Come, follow Jesus, and shine with us!

Let this one great, gracious, glorious fact lie in your spirit until it permeates all your thoughts and makes you rejoice even though you are without strength. Rejoice that the Lord Jesus has become your strength and your song - He has become your salvation. - Charles Spurgeon

One more way to honor your mom on Mother’s Day - if you’ve never really owned up to all the stupid and rebellious things you’ve done to bring shame against her or despise her authority, why not say you’re sorry? Like truly humble yourself and ask for her forgiveness. She’s probably already forgiven and forgotten, but do you need to make some things right? And if she’s no longer here to talk to, maybe write a letter or journal your apology anyway. Pray through it, and watch the God of all comfort go to work.
