God’s Work. Our Hands.—Sign Up!

Sunday, September 13 from 1:00—4:00 p.m.
at Valley Vista Public Waldorf, 730 N Webster St.

For this year's God's Work. Our Hands. Elim will be volunteering at Valley Vista Public Waldorf (VVPW) on Sunday, September 13 from 1—4 p.m. There will be both sitting and active tasks. Four of our Elim kids are attending VVPW and this will be a great way to support them and our community. All are welcome, including Confirmands! Sign up on the bulletin board outside the kitchen.

Help Make Worship Happen!

Elim’s worship services depend on many volunteers—not only those you see singing, playing instruments, or leading from the front. There are many important behind-the-scenes ways to help.

Right now, we especially need volunteers to: • Serve as ushers
• Set up communion (on Saturday)
• Serve w**e during communion
No experience is necessary—we’ll show you everything you need to know! Once you’re trained, you can choose the dates and services that work best for your schedule. Whether you help once a month or just occasionally, your participation makes a difference.

September is Hunger Action Month!

Hunger Action Month (HAM) is an annual nationwide campaign held each September, where communities throughout the nation come together to raise awareness about food insecurity and inspire action. This September, every action―big or small―is one step closer to a Sonoma County where no one is hungry. Your voice, your actions, and your commitment are critical in the movement to end hunger.

The Redwood Empire Food Bank will raise awareness about food insecurity during September. We hope you will join us! The REFB staff will be wearing ORANGE on Hunger Action Day, September 29th. Join us! Visit www.refb.org

Crafters’ Rummage Sale

Saturday, October 24, 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Setup: Friday, October 23, 3:00–6:00 p.m.

We’re clearing out Elim’s craft rooms, and there are lots of craft supplies looking for new homes! Volunteers are needed Friday to move boxes and set up, and Saturday to help with the sale. Contact Doris Widger to volunteer.

Proceeds will support Elim improvement projects and future crafting events.

14th Annual Emergency Preparedness Fair
Sunday, September 27, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
at Walnut Park in Petaluma

Hosted by our own Scout Troop 9, Elim Lutheran Church. Guests include Cool Petaluma, So Co Emergency Management, Petaluma Fire and Police Department, Red Cross, US Coast Guard, SoCo Sheriff's office, and local scouts.

Free Go Bags for the first 150 families. Free hands on demonstrations of CPR, First Aid, and help signing up for alerts. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Come and learn how to be ready for any disaster or emergency.

Conflict is a part of relationships and life in community. Jesus’ words in today's gospel are often used in situations having to do with church discipline. The prophet Ezekiel tells of warning the wicked to turn from their ways, and Paul reminds us that love is the fulfilling of the law. We gather in the name of Christ, assured that he is present among us with gifts of peace and reconciliation.
