Open Table – September Gathering

Room at the Table

As the busy days of summer give way to the rhythms of fall, we invite you to gather around the table once again.
Open Table is a relaxed, intergenerational evening where people of all ages come together to share a meal, sing, hear a story from scripture, enjoy meaningful conversation, and participate in a creative activity.

This month, we’ll explore the theme “Room at the Table.” Together we’ll discover how Jesus continually made room for others and invited everyone to belong. In a world where people can often feel left out or overlooked, we’ll celebrate the joy of creating communities where everyone is welcomed, valued, and loved.

Whether you’re five or ninety-five, whether you’ve been to Open Table before or this is your first time, there is a place waiting for you.

Come hungry for good food, good conversation, and a welcoming community.

Watching. Wondering. Discussing.

What if we experienced the story of Jesus together?

This fall, we’re launching Common Ground, a new weekly gathering for people who want to explore the story and way of Jesus through conversation, curiosity, and community.

Our first journey together will be through the popular television series The Chosen.

📅 Wednesdays, September 16–November 4
📍 Fellowship Center Chapel

🕠 5:30–6:30 p.m. — Watch Together
We’ll watch an episode of The Chosen on the big screen. Or watch it in advance and come at 6:30!

💬 6:30–7:30 p.m. — Common Ground Conversation

Come for both—or come just for the conversation!

This isn’t a class.
There are no lectures.
There are no tests.
And there’s no expectation that everyone will agree.

We’ll watch, wonder, ask questions, share our perspectives, and explore what these stories about Jesus might mean for our lives today.

You don’t have to be a Bible expert.
You don’t need a church background.
You don’t have to agree with everything you see.
You don’t even have to watch the episode.

Just come curious.

Monday is a favorite day of mine, as I love volunteering at the Town of Peru Historians office. Found this little church brochure in the Peru Community Church file.
Some may have seen it before but I had to share it. This history is very special for Helen (Town Historian) and I because we both grew up in this church!!!
