Day 4 Highlights

Today’s lesson centered on the story of Jonah, found in the short but powerful book bearing his name. The participants listened to how God called Jonah to preach repentance to the people of Nineveh, and how running from God led Jonah into serious trouble.

We talked about Jonah’s three days in the belly of the great fish, a picture pointing forward to the three days Christ spent in the grave. Both emerged to new life and purpose.

Jonah went on to deliver God’s message to save a city, and Christ rose to prepare a place for us. What a beautiful reminder of God’s mercy and His desire to rescue and restore!

Day 3 of The River of Life Vacation Bible School from The Lutheran Heritage Foundation focused on a powerful moment in Scripture: the Parting of the Red Sea. Today’s theme reminded us that through God’s Word and water, His people are saved from certain death. The same water that delivered Israel also brought an end to their enemies, the Egyptians. What a vivid picture of God’s mighty protection.

Day 2 of our Intergenerational VBS is wrapped up, and what a joy it’s been! We're exploring The River of Life cirriculumn from The Lutheran Heritage Foundation, diving into two powerful Bible accounts—The Creation on Day 1 and The Flood on Day 2.

Our VBS is flowing with two connected themes: Water and God’s Plan of Salvation. Running through the lessons is a Baptismal current – with emphasis on the way God has put to death the enemy and brought life to His children through the power of His Word by means of Water. The Old Testament stories of God saving through water are linked to the New Testament counterpart in Holy Baptism.

Feeling grateful for another meaningful day together at Shepherd of the Valley.
