Six baptisms this morning!

Six public declarations that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Baptism is not merely a religious social media photo op. It is Christ’s appointed sign for those who have repented of their sins, trusted in Him, and now publicly identify with His death, burial, and resurrection.

The water does not save.

Christ saves.

And those whom Christ saves, He calls to follow Him openly.

So this morning, six believers went down into the water confessing what the Church has confessed for two thousand years: the old man belongs in the grave, Jesus is alive, and Caesar is not Lord.

Christ is.

This is how the Kingdom advances. Through the ordinary means Christ has given His Church. The Word preached. Sinners converted. Saints baptized. The Table received. Children discipled. Households ordered under Christ. Churches planted. Faith handed down.

One baptism may look like a small thing to the world.

Six may look like a nice Sunday.

But Hell knows better.

Because every baptism is another flag planted in the ground declaring that Jesus Christ has purchased a people for Himself. And the gates of Hell will not prevail against His Church.

Today we got to plant six more flags.

Praise God.

Christ is building His Church.

And He is just getting started.

Today we spent some time at CBC training for evangelism.

Evangelism is more than knocking on doors, handing out tracts, or trying to get someone to pray a prayer.

Evangelism is the Church proclaiming the good news that Jesus Christ is Lord, calling sinners to repent and believe, and trusting God to use that gospel to bring people, households, communities, and ultimately the nations from being under Adam’s curse into Christ.

And that changes how we measure success.

Success in evangelism isn’t whether someone responds the way we hoped. Success is faithfulness to act.

We proclaim Christ. We love our neighbors. We open our homes. We call sinners to repentance. We make disciples.

God gives the increase.

We’re not salesmen trying to close a deal. We’re heralds announcing that the King has come.

The gospel was never ment to be kept safely inside the walls of a church building. We have been entrusted with good news for a world that desperately needs to hear it.

Join us at Covenant Baptist Church for Evangelism Training, a practical time designed to help ordinary Christians better speak the truth of the gospel to the heart of the culture.

You don’t need to be a theologian, an extrovert, or that person who can turn every trip to the grocery store into a street sermon. You simply need to believe that Jesus is Lord, the gospel is true, and your neighbor needs to hear it.

The culture is already preaching. The question is whether the Church knows how to answer.

This morning we walked across the parking lot with coffee and sausage biscuits and fed some veterans at the Perry VA.

There’s no complicated strategy behind it. They’re right next door. We have breakfast. They served our country. So we feed them.

We enjoyed the conversations this morning enough that we’re making it a regular thing.

On the last Thursday of every month, Covenant Baptist Church will have free breakfast and coffee in the parking lot for our veteran neighbors from 8:30-10 am.

If you’re headed into the Perry VA, stop by. Grab a biscuit. Drink some coffee. Stay and talk awhile.

🍳What a sweet morning at Covenant Baptist Church! Our very first Kids Cook Sunday was such a special opportunity for our children to learn, serve, and work together.

Mr. Mike led the kids in a devotion from 1 Peter 4:10 “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

After learning that God has given each of us gifts to use in service to others, our kids put that lesson into practice! They worked together to cook breakfast for our church family—and they did a wonderful job!

Through them, we were reminded of the precious truth found in Psalm 127:3 “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.”

What a blessing it is to watch these children grow—not only in what they can do, but in their understanding that they have been given gifts by God to serve others and glorify Him.

We are so thankful for our Covenant Kids and for everyone who invests in teaching them, encouraging them, and giving them opportunities to serve. What a joy to watch the next generation learn to love and serve the church! 🍳🥞❤️

Sunday night, Covenant Baptist Church had the joy of ordaining Danny Noler as our Pastor of Students and Families and recognizing him as one of the elders in our plurality of pastors.

We are thankful for the Lord’s faithful work in Danny’s life, his love for Christ, his family, and His Church. We look forward to seeing God continue to use him as he equips the saints, shepherds families, and proclaims the truth of God’s Word.

Please join us in praying for Pastor Danny, Brittany, and their family as they continue serving Christ and His Church. Soli Deo Gloria.
