Lansing Buddhist Association 蘭莘學佛會 Ch'an and Pure Land Buddhist Organization of Greater Lansing, MI All events are open to the public.

A non-profit organization established in 1995, Lansing Buddhist Association (LBA) hosts meditation classes, dharma talks, retreats, and special events with visitng teachers from Taiwan, U.S., Malaysia, Thailand, Burma, and Tibet. The construction of LBA's retreat center, Amitabha Village Retreat Center (AVRC), is now complete. Together with our residential house Jing Ye Ju (House of Purified Karma; a.k.a. Perry House), AVRC can now accommodate teachers and retreatants traveling from afar and allow LBA to host bigger, longer events.
蘭莘學佛會自1995年成立以來，多次舉辦中英文禪坐與念佛共修，並多次邀請來自台灣、美國、馬來西亞、泰國、緬甸、西藏等各地的法師作短期弘講，帶領禪修與念佛。新建成的彌陀村禪堂與現有的淨業居，為舉辦大型佛法共修活動提供了理想的場所，讓遠道而來參訪的法師與佛友們有較適當的居住環境。

我們人間因有「愛」才有「取捨」，有「取捨」才造種種業，受種種報。作為一位菩薩，因心地清淨，雖然處身在愛欲的環境之中，但是能夠覺察、明白，愛欲乃眾苦之因，既已清淨自心，即不受癡人愛所惑，故常能夠自在解脫。《維摩經六講》

In the human world, it is because of attachment and love that we develop preferences, and from such preferences arise karma and their corresponding consequences. A bodhisattva, however, with a pure mind, even when surrounded by the desires of the world, can remain aware and discerning—knowing that desire and attachment are the roots of suffering. Having purified the mind, the bodhisattva is not deluded by the attachments that ensnare the ignorant and can therefore always remain free and at ease.
