Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Today, we’re thankful for the gift of work—for the hands that build, teach, serve, create, provide, and care for others. May we remember that whatever work God has placed before us, we can do it with purpose and excellence, knowing that our ultimate work is for His glory.

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” — Colossians 3:23

Our church offices will be closed today in observance of Labor Day. We hope you enjoy a safe, restful, and meaningful holiday with family and friends!

This Sunday we're picking the Great & Good series back up with "God is Good 2: Righteous and Just" from Jeremiah 9:23-24. These verses point us away from boasting in our wisdom, strength, or wealth and toward knowing God, whose character is righteous and just. That kind of holiness isn't just about what we believe. It shapes how we live and how we treat the people around us.

If you're ready to look at what righteousness and justice can look like in your relationships, come sit with us this Sunday. Doors open early, coffee's on, and worship starts at 10:30 AM. Bring somebody with you to FB Perry!

"God's holiness should cause us to repent...and that's where grace meets us."

When we see God's holiness and who He truly is, we're also confronted with the truth of who we are - sinful and inadequate. We see in his book that Isaiah didn't try to fix his condition, point to accomplishments, or compare himself to someone else. He fully came face-to-face with God and agreed with him.

This is true repentance. We come before a holy God without excuses, humbly acknowledging our sin and confessing our desperate need for Him. His holiness should bring us to our knees, not because grace is out of reach, but because that's exactly where his grace meets us.

His holiness does not merely expose what is wrong in us; it begins the work of transforming us. When we turn from our sin, surrender all to Him, and trust in His grace, God does what we could never do - cleanses us, restores what is broken, and shapes us into the image of Christ.

The holiness that humbles us is also the holiness that transforms us.

Jeremiah 9:23–24 isn't a warning against being wise, strong, or successful. It's a reminder that what matters most is reflecting the heart of God in the way we live.

God says the one who boasts should boast in this: that they understand and know Him, the One who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness on the earth. Holiness isn't just personal. It shapes how we love people, pursue justice, extend kindness, and live rightly in every relationship.

The more we know God, the more our lives should look like Him.

"Let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth." Jeremiah 9:24 ESV
