Why God chose a people.
From the beginning, God’s way of choosing has never been about exclusion.
When God chose Israel, it was not because they were the strongest, the most numerous, or the most impressive. He chose them out of love—and for a purpose.
They were chosen to be a bridge.
Through them, God revealed Himself—through the covenant, the law, the prophets—so that His truth would not remain hidden, but would reach the whole world. Their calling was never meant to end with themselves. It was always meant to open outward.
This reveals something essential about God:
God’s choice is always a choice for others.
To be chosen by God is not to be set above others,
but to be sent for others.
In Israel’s story, we see the beginning of a plan that was always universal. What starts with one people is meant for every people. What begins in a particular history is meant to reach every human heart.
And in Christ, this becomes complete.
Jesus is not just another messenger—He is the fullness of Revelation. In Him, the bridge is no longer just a people, but a Person. He unites God and humanity, and opens the way for all to come into communion with the Father.
So the pattern continues:
To be chosen is to become a bridge.
To receive is to give.
To be loved is to become a witness to that love.
This is not just Israel’s story.
It is ours.
Because anyone who encounters God is never chosen instead of others—
but always for the sake of others.
