When evil did its worst, Christ answered with goodness.

He was falsely accused, mocked, beaten, and crucified. Yet He prayed for forgiveness. When we sought evil against Him, He sought our everlasting good, giving His life as the sacrifice for our sin.

Christ overcame our rebellion with mercy, our sin with grace, and our guilt with His own precious blood.

Before Romans 12:21 becomes a command for us to follow, it directs our eyes to Jesus—the One who has already overcome evil for us.

Our culture often treats retaliation as strength: strike back, settle the score, and make people regret crossing you.

But Romans 12 gives God’s people another way.

When we bless those who curse us, pray for those who mistreat us, and show kindness to those who have wronged us, we are not surrendering to evil. We are refusing to let evil dictate our behavior.

As Pastor reminded us Sunday, “Goodness is not weakness. Goodness in God’s eyes is warfare.”

What a wonderful start to the school year! Our students have been learning, creating, building friendships, and settling into their new routines.

In our small-school setting, we have the blessing of truly knowing and encouraging each child as they grow.

We’re excited for all this year will bring as we continue Rooted in Christ—growing in faith, learning, and love.
