Some of the most important work in the church happens where few people see it. đź’™
Behind the Sunday sermon are hours of study and prayer. Behind the ministry are difficult conversations, heavy burdens, and people who need someone to keep showing up. And alongside the calling of a pastor is often a spouse who faithfully shares the joys, sacrifices, and unseen weight of ministry.
Pastors and their wives give so much of themselves to care for others, often in ways that will never be publicly recognized.
They pray for your family. They walk with you through heartbreak. They celebrate your answered prayers. They open their lives and homes, offer wisdom, share the gospel, and keep serving even when the work is hard and the fruit is slow to come.
And sometimes, the people who spend their lives caring for others need someone to care for them, too.
This Pastor Appreciation Month, don't just appreciate them. Pray for them.
Pray for the pastor who faithfully opens God's Word each week.
Pray for his wife as she serves, leads, encourages, and cares for her family and community in the ways God has called her.
Pray for their marriage, their children, their spiritual health, and their joy. Pray that they would be surrounded by a church that offers grace instead of unrealistic expectations, encouragement instead of criticism, and genuine partnership instead of leaving them to carry the burdens of ministry alone.
And pray that God would strengthen them for the work ahead.
Because the mission of making Jesus known across North America is too important for pastors and their families to carry alone. The church is called to pray, give, serve, send, and go together.
Church, one of the greatest ways you can love your pastor and his wife is to stand beside them in the mission God has given His people.
Today, take a moment to tell them you're thankful. Let them know you're praying. And ask God to renew their strength as they faithfully serve Him and the people He has entrusted to their care.
“I thank my God every time I remember you.” — Philippians 1:3
