Dorothy Darlene (Land) Stephens, born on August 2, 1957, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 3, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Steinhatchee, Florida, Darlene spent the majority of her life in Perry, Florida, where she became known for her unwavering faith, kind heart, and servant's spirit. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished "Nanny," faithful friend, and a blessing to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Caprus and Billie June Land; her stepfather, Oliver Knight; and her sisters, Barbarann Land and Margurite Sphaler and brother Marvin Land.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Johnnie "Winky" Stephens; her daughter, Angela Haddock (Brandon); her son, John Stephens (Jessica); and her four treasured grandchildren, Colby, Katelyn, Kaidyn, and Kinley, who were the greatest joy of her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Elaine Williams (David), Fronda Sharp, Brenda Richardson (Ronnie), and Carol Knight (John), her brother Ricky Land (Wendy) along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A faithful servant of the Lord, Darlene dedicated much of her life to serving at Athena Baptist Church. For more than 30 years, she faithfully led the Children's Department and Vacation Bible School, impacting the lives of countless children by sharing the love of Christ. Her passion for serving extended into the community as she enjoyed working in the local schools and volunteering with the PTO at school events and fundraisers.

Above all else, Darlene's greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren. She rarely missed a school event, sporting competition, recital, or special occasion. Whether cheering from the sidelines, celebrating milestones, or simply spending time together, she was their biggest supporter and a constant Christian example whose faith, love, and encouragement will continue to inspire them for years to come.

Darlene will be remembered for her gentle spirit, compassionate heart, steadfast faith, and the unconditional love she shared so freely. Her legacy of service, kindness, and devotion to God and her family will live on in the many lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Big Bend Hospice or the Florida Baptist Children's Home. Donations may be made by check payable to Athena Baptist Church, with the designated ministry noted in the memo line. Services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, with a viewing at 10:00 and service at11:00 at Athena Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service at New Hope Cemetery.
