Sunday, September 06, our benevolence offering will go to the Nepal Flood response/relief. Continue to pray for the families who have lost loved ones and/or who are waiting to hear about missing loved ones. Pray for the first responders as they search through the mud and rubble. Especially, pray for the Christians as they minister to their friends, loved ones, and strangers during this disaster. And, pray about your gift to help in the recovery and to show the love of Christ to the Nepal people.

Being like Jesus. When John wrote about Christ's incarnation he describes Jesus as being full of both Grace and Truth. In Ancient Greek (the written language of the New Testament), when a characteristic is placed first, it signals a special focus or prominence of that trait. So, when John wrote about Christ, he said Jesus was full of both grace and truth; however, the prominence was on Grace. That means Jesus led in Grace when dealing with others. Truth wasn't sacrificed but Grace took the lead. When a Christian says they lean more towards truth rather than Grace, they are admitting they are not following Christ's example. Let's make it our spiritual reflex to lean into Grace when dealing with others. You will find it often helps them accept the truth.

Several of us went down to the Center for Pregnancy Concerns this morning to deliver the $4,300 raised by WMBC. We had an opportunity to hear the compassion that those leading the work have for the babies, moms, and communities that they serve. Their willingness to be in an area that many of us would feel uncomfortable with walking through reveals their commitment to Christ in rescuing these babies.

By showing the love of Christ to the most marginalized of people, they help provide a little security and, more importantly, significance to their lives. They see people that society, and unfortunately, most churches miss.

On Thursday, September 10th from 7-9 PM, CPC will have their major fall fundraising gala at the Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel in Towson. It is free to attend but registration is required. You will be able to meet the staff and board of directors, hear about the work, and discover the ways they support the women in our communities. WMBC attendees can register at [email protected].

They are especially encouraging 18-30 year olds to attend because most of the work is done for their generation. If you are in this age group, this would be a great opportunity for you to learn for the resources available for those seeking a safe, non-judgmental space for women looking to get all the facts about their pregnancy options (abortion, adoption, and motherhood), empowering them to make informed choices. Regardless of their final pregnancy decisions, women are loved and welcome to return for services at any time.
