Ira Kohler is a New York native who moved to Israel at age 21 and served as a Lone Soldier in the IDF Paratroopers. On October 7, Ira fought on the front lines during Israel’s toughest day, battling in Kibbutz Be’eri, and he went on to spend more than 100 days inside the Gaza Strip. Upon completing his service, Ira became a public speaker and wrote Once a Paratrooper, the first memoir by a Lone Soldier who fought in the war. Join us to hear Ira's story. In partnership with Park Synagogue.

Our hearts turn towards the memories of October 7
with profound grief and heavy sorrow.

We sanctify the names and lives
of the innocent women, men, and children
whose lives were stolen.

We honor the courage of those
who risked everything to defend their people.

Bless the leaders of all nations
with wisdom and compassion.
Let our hope rise louder
than the pain of what has been done.

May the promise of true peace take root β€”
where no one shall terrify or be afraid,
and all may dwell in safety and peace.

Amen.
