Titus 3:7 - That being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. KJV

Before Christ, the only concept of religion was appeasing your god. Every god in the pantheons around the world demanded sacrifice, and the God of the Hebrews was no different. But He knew the sacrifice of animals would never be enough to atone for sin. So he taught the Jews through his prophets that he would one day live among them, teach them, and even die for them. Not sto shepherd them into eternity, but to elevate them to be heirs with Christ. And in that inheritance is the Mind of Christ.

Father, we glorify your sacrifice with every morning prayer; we reach out to you for every need; you are our God, our Savior, our Redeemer. Help us, Lord, to daily draw closer to you until others see Christ in me.

1 Samuel 16:7 "When you look upon Jesse's sons, I will not look at them as a man does, for you see only his flesh. I will look at his heart." (Paraphrased from KJV)

Samuel is on a mission for God. He is sent to Jesse of Bethlehem to find among his sons the future king of Israel. Jesse presents his six oldest sons, yet God doesn't accept them, so he asks, "Do you have any other sons?" Jesse's youngest son, David, is tending the sheep, so he sends a servant to bring him home. When David arrives, the Lord tells Samuel to anoint him and dedicate him to the Lord. [Now mind you, this is most likely a young man, perhaps even in his late teens]. More about him later.

Simple message, but so powerful. God knows what is in your heart and in your soul. He knows your trials; He knows every temptation and every doubt, and He is there to stand by you and guide you if you hear His Word and abide in Him.

When Christ came to earth, He taught us by example how to live our lives, and sanctified His ministry by His crucifixion and resurrection. He has sent us the Holy Spirit to follow if we allow Him to lead.

Lord, give us faith this day and every day. Allow the Spirit to guide our lives, to choose the paths You would have us walk. Most importantly, let Your Spirit share with us the Mind of Christ in all things. Let us learn to ask, "What would He do?" Amen.

Matthew 20: 26; 28 "Whoever shall be great among you, let him be your minister; Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life as a ransom for many"

Just a few verses earlier, the "sons of thunder" asked Jesus to sit at His right and left hands in heaven. Needless to say, the other disciples were indignant, but Jesus ended the quarrel with one simple statement: be a minister to others, become their servant.
True leadership isn't barking orders and maintaining discipline, but allowing everyone under your command to flourish, to become all they are capable of. A true witness to Christ leads by example.
Lord, grant me the power to surrender to you; make me your servant in all things. Use me to bring your message of salvation to any soul who needs it. Use my gifts to proclaim your word.

Mark 1:15:" The Time is fulfilled, the Kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel."

Jesus is proclaiming in a single sentence that He has come to give a New Testament, a new beginning, ...a new hope. Written to the Gentile and Roman Christians, Mark provides the raw details of Christ's life to them with zeal, beginning as Christ begins his ministry, and ending with Christ's passion and resurrection. In no uncertain terms, he declares Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, the Emmanuel.

Jesus came to teach us a way to live, a way to unite with God and together move forward in peace and harmony with one another. Yet here we are today, so distant from one another, so divested in our own petty grievances, we forget to move forward with the Mind of Christ, our rightful inheritance.

We forget to be consistent; we allow ourselves to be swayed by our peers, allowing seemingly insignificant sins to accumulate until they overturn our commitment to our Lord. We struggle daily because we do not follow our chosen path.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

When you wake tomorrow morning, will you trust the Lord to direct your day? Will you reach out to others with Christ's love, and do what you can to witness by your example?

Lord, help us gain understanding from the lesson today, help us commit to our Lord each and every day; to deny our earthly desires and ask the Mind of Christ to temper our actions and our tongues. Make us proper witnesses to you, Lord. In Jesus ' name we pray.

Hebrews 6:11 “And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end.”
While the author is generally assumed to be Paul, the epistle to the Hebrews was intended for the Christian Jews who were always in danger of backsliding into Judaism. Having accepted Jesus as their Messiah, they were no longer condemned by the law, but saved by faith thanks to the incredible mercy of an all-loving God.
The old ways are gone; the veil is torn apart; God no longer lives in a temple made of stone, but within our hearts and souls. And with the Holy Spirit, we also share the Mind of Christ, if we will listen.
A bit dated, perhaps, but each time we face a decision in our lives, we should ask ourselves...what would Jesus do?

Father, look down upon us today; teach us to wait upon you, Lord, all-knowing, all-powerful, ever-present God. Give us the presence of mind to place you in our every thought. Guide our leaders to decisions that will end these empty conflicts; teach the world that peace, not war, is the path to true enlightenment. Teach us to love as you love us.

So very true.

My mother was a male centered woman, as was my grandmother. All of her decisions were based upon them and the outcomes were never good.
They came before her children.

Even at the end of her life.

Watching her decision making as a child burned ideas into my brain and I carried it well into adulthood until I realized it was no way to live.

I couldn’t write a different ending for her, but I could write it for myself.

Brethren, James 1:22 admonishes us to be not only hearers of the word, but doers of the word. We are called to help others with our gifts, no matter what they might be.
Paul says in Romans 12:6-8, and again in 1 Corinthians 12:8-11, that we are all given gifts by God. Have you found yours? It may be a simple word offered to another, a word that draws that sibling to God. The Spirit will manifest your gift if you rely on His mercy and grace to lead you.
Lord, fill us with the Mind of Christ, humble us each morning before you, teach us to celebrate each day as the first day, and the very last. In your Holy Name we pray...Amen.
