Lydia Nosbisch (Spirituality Chair): In May the Catholic Church honors the Virgin Mary. Did you know you can honor Mary through the different flowers you plant in your garden?

From Church Pop: "In Catholic tradition, each flower associated with Mary reflects a different aspect of her life and character, from her purity and humility to her maternal love and heavenly glory. They serve as gentle reminders of Mary’s closeness to God and her intercession for all her children.

Knowing the symbolism behind these flowers is a great reminder to pray for Our Lady’s intercession and a tool for evangelization."

The following list highlights just some of the flowers Catholic tradition dedicates to Mary by Caroline Perkins and the Editors of Church Pop:

Lydia Nosbisch (Spirituality Chair): Happy May! The month of May is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. How blessed we are to have her as our mother. We encourage you to celebrate her in a special way this month on any day or by choosing one of the Marian days that are part of this month. Celebrate by praying the rosary, having a special treat or meal, or plant some flowers.

May Marian Days:

May 1st – Our Lady, Queen of May. While this is not an official feast day, it is often the day many will have a May Crowning ceremony for Mary.

May 2nd – First Saturday. The first Saturday of the month is always dedicated to Mary.

May 13th – Our Lady of Fatima

May 25th – The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church

Lydia Nosbisch (Spirituality Chair): The Eucharist is the Source and Summit of our Catholic Faith!

Please enjoy. Video from Fr. Mike Schmitz on the Eucharist: https://youtu.be/UQPTfyxZLKI?si=POWD_Podld84oY1K

According to Ascension Presents and Fr. Mike Schmitz “It's easy to fall into a routine and lose sight of the little miracles all around us. Unfortunately, it is even easy to fall into a routine and lose sight of the greatest miracle of all, happening right in front of us….

Fr. Mike discusses the greatest gift God has ever given man: himself. Christ offered his body at the Last Supper, he sacrificed it on the Cross, and he continues to give himself to us at each and every Mass. Fr. Mike explains the shocking reality of what it means to eat Jesus' body and drink Jesus' blood. This flesh, the Incarnate Word of God, redeemed the world. His body and blood are what save our fallen human nature and they are what give us life. This miracle, occurring each time we go to Mass, gives us an opportunity to partake in redemption, unite with our Savior, and live a sacramental life.”

Lydia Nosbisch (Spirituality Chair): The month of April is dedicated to the Holy Eucharist and the Holy Spirit.

I invite you to take a moment to pray for all of those that will be receiving the sacraments (baptism, communion, and confirmation) for the first time at Easter Vigil this Saturday. We pray that they will be filled with the Holy Spirit and truly experience and welcome Jesus, Body, Blood, Soul, and divinity, in the Eucharist!
