Northern Conference Synod Day will take place on Sunday, September 20 from 1:30-6:30 pm at Bethel Lutheran in Bartonville.

You Are Invited - Share Your Thoughts with the Transition Team on Sunday, July 12th



Join us on Sunday, July 12th during worship to help the Transition Team begin telling the story of our congregation. Following the announcements at worship, we will invite everyone to take a few minutes to reflect on the question, “Why does our congregation exist?” In other words, What is our purpose? A few notecards will be passed out to each individual, and the Transition Team will ask everyone to write one idea about the purpose of our congregation on each card. We encourage ideas to be descriptive. (For example, instead of just writing “worship,” give a brief explanation about why they see worship as part of our purpose.)



If you are worshiping online, or unable to attend worship on July 12th, you may send your responses to the above question about the purpose of our congregation via email to Pastor Jen , or you can mail them to the church (Salem Lutheran Church, 1700 W. War Memorial Dr., Peoria, IL 61614). We appreciate if email, or mailed responses could arrive before July 12th, or soon after. This will help the Transition Team begin working with the information that is collected.

Hello Church! Greetings from the Transition Team.



Our team gathered together for the first time this past Sunday to begin the process of creating Salem’s Ministry Site Profile (MSP). As previously mentioned, the Ministry Site Profile is what prospective pastors will read to learn about Salem and the ministry among our community of disciples (please see the articles in the July/August Bugle). We completed the first of seven sessions using the “Discover and Invite” curriculum to guide our work. In our first session, the transition Team laid the foundation for gathering information about our community of disciples that will help with the writing of the MSP. We also set the date for the congregation’s first opportunity to share their thoughts about our ministry here at Salem. This will take place during worship on Sunday, July 12th, and we invite you to read the following article to learn how you can participate in this activity.



We are excited to discover what God has been up to within our community of disciples and to invite everyone to consider where God is leading us as we look to the future of ministry at Salem. Please continue to pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance through this process.
