SUPPORT CHRISITIAN RADIO
Spent an hour yesterday as WBNH's on-air guest during their annual SHARE event - I've been a guest most years dating back nearly 20 years.

Do you support them?

Make a donation to any Christian radio station before 12:01am Tuesday, April 28 Pacific Time, and if at least FIVE CMC fans email me their donation evidence I will draw from their entries and MATCH that donation to their station.

Consider asking your favorite station be interested in airing our weekly 60-second radio spot, the "Christian Movie Central Radio Update."

FREE - zero cost to any station, traditional over-the-air or online!

Typically we simply share information on these movies. Our mission is to raise awareness, and we don't look to 'play favorites' on films or venues. "A Great Awakening" is a film that I can't help but play favorites on. I have always enjoyed history, but rarely historical films, especially around the late 1770s and the birth of our country.

The characters seem stodgy, unrelatable, and at times it seems like the filmmakers want to make them fit who we want them to be or wish they were. Many today want to see every founding father as a strong Christian, even a modern evangelical, but that doesn't fit. Ben Franklin was more deist than Christian, and that comes through both in his writings and - thankfully - this film.

I was able to get lost in the story and the characters and the sincere friendship between characters, especially Rev. Whitefield and Ben Franklin. I personally don't know if Easter weekend was the best choice for a film based around the birth of our country, but I do strongly consider you try to fit it into your weekend plans. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

First a confession - I am typically not a big fan of "period films." They feel off somehow, or forced.

Now an admission - I did NOT feel that way at all about A Great Awakening. Wow. This is going to be a tough film to beat.

Part of me was ready to see them turn Ben Franklin into a evangelical force - they did not. His friendship with Rev. Whitefield was warm, but not without tension. Their debates between religion and science, faith and facts were sincere, respectful, and real.

The film opens Easter weekend - but let's face it that weekend can get pretty packed with church events and family get togethers.

So I was excited to hear that certain theaters are having a special advance screening on Sunday, March 29 at 2pm.

Here in Peoria it will be (confirmed so far) at AMC Grand Prairie 18.

I have every intention of being there... would LOVE to see the theater shocked with a full house, on a Sunday afternoon.
