What does the word Christian mean to you? Is it a word that we say when we want to be a part of a larger group? Do we truly agree to live by the way Jesus walked? It is saying that you are like Christ. You have things in common with Him and you live like He lived. You are a servant who is loving, kind, caring, compassionate, forgiving, and selfless. Your focus is not self-centered, but other-centered. When we say that we are a Christian, people should see our care for others. It is more than wearing a cross and proclaiming that you go to church. The Jesus that lives in you should be visible and our light should be shining because Jesus is the Light of the world. So let us be a light that shines in darkness, creating a path for others to follow our Savior.

Kirk Franklin wrote a song that said, "Love, a word that comes and goes, but few people really know what it means to really love somebody." Jesus told us to love each other, but when we watch the news it is easy to see that people are not loving. There's murderer, assault, robberies, corruption, wars, and societal hatred. Where is the love? Loving by Jesus standards is understanding that everyone may not be easy to love, but reflecting on ourselves and recognizing that we have our own flaws also. Loving people is looking for the godly nature in them and not focusing on the human nature. Love is supposed to be unconditional. If we can learn to love people like God loves us, the world would be different and so would we as individuals.

In Micah's time, people wanted to know what kinds of sacrifices or offerings pleased God. God isn't interested in a performance from us. But, there are three requirements to pleasing God: 1. You must act justly. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly and should be giventhe opportunity to be treated with dignity and respect. 2. Show God's love and mercy to others. We must extend grace to others and display kindness, compassion, and steadfast love. 3. Realize that living your life is about God and His will for you. When you know what to do, do what you know is right. God wants us to be sincere and loving to our sisters and brothers in Christ. No performances or fake gestures will God accept. Be real with God. Remember that God's watching us, so make Him smile.

When you love somebody from the depths of your heart, you focus on the way you feel about them. Nobody is perfect, but our love for others can overlook the pitfalls of life and overcome anything. God loved us so much that He gave His only Son. Yes, we have messed up because we've lied, we've been unfaithful to God, we've given our affection to other things, but He didn't stop loving us. Love allows you to forgive, overlook, and heal issues that you have with others because love is supposed to be unconditional. Love requires commitment, intentional effort, and constant energy. At times your patience will be challenged, but love overcomes all obstacles. Allow love to forgive, let go, and restore relationships. God did it for you, so be loving enough to do it for others.

No matter what your situation may look like, don't give up. It doesn't have to make sense right now and it may not make sense later, but hold on. God is the greatest ally you will ever have. Stop focusing on what you can see because there is more to the story than what is visible. God sees the things that are in the future and He knows what is best for you. So trust God to help you when you can't help yourself. The enemy is always calling you out. He is looking for ways to get beyond the walls in your life. He aims to knock you down, tear you down, and destroy you. But when you are fighting the enemy, you are not alone. You have a team of three: God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. If God is on your side, it doesn't matter what the enemy has planned, it won't prosper. God wins, hands down; it's over.

We will all go through situations in life—some bad, some good. Many times, we think the phrase “I’m going through something” is bad news, but if we view it properly, we realize “going through” is good; it means we’re not stuck! We may be facing difficulties, but at least we are moving forward.

Isaiah 43:2 says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you".
God’s Word here is clear: we will go through things. We will face adversity in our lives. That’s not bad news; that’s reality.

Determine that you will go all the way through every difficulty you face in life. Make a decision now to keep going forward, trusting God no matter how difficult it is because you know He will be with you and you will grow in faith as a result.

Letting go of things is one of the hardest parts of being human. We like the things we accumulate and sometimes we realize that we must let go of certain things but after a while they feel like they are a part of us. Anger, hatred, jealousy, unforgivenness, and fear live with us and we don't always want to let them go. Holding on to them doesn't help us get better. If God let go of our sins surely we can let go of someone else's. Trying to be godly means we must learn to let the hurt go so we can love with our heart and not our head.

Wisdom is an awesome gift from God. Many of us want to do things our way without consulting God or listening to His advice. We want to know all the facts before we pray instead of just trusting that God can and will handle it. Wisdom tells us at times to shut up and watch, while at other times it tells us to speak. Don't be so vain to believe that you have all the gifts of God without praying and asking for God's guidance. Ask for the things you desire, but ask realizing the gift is to lift up a Holy God and not our own ego.

When life gets difficult, we rush to fix things on our own. We don't tend to run to God in prayer first. We trust our own power and then when we've thoroughly messed it up, then we start praying. Waiting is hard to do, but when we learn how to trust God for our daily needs, we will find that our blessings are always going to be close by. Sometimes God is telling us no, at times He's saying yes and then He might be saying not yet. Let Him lead, because when we rush to fix our own mess and we leave God out, we begin walking outside the will of God. That's a dangerous place to be. So, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.
