Tonight, the City Council recognized the 80th Anniversary of Grace Baptist Church of Peoria IL. with a Mayoral Proclamation. Special thank you to Dr. Claude White Jr., Grace Baptist Church Pastor, for attending tonight’s meeting.

The proclamation read:

WHEREAS, Grace Baptist Church, located at 405 North Richard Pryor Place in Peoria, has stood as a spiritual anchor and community pillar on the South Side of Peoria for generations, faithfully serving residents with compassion, dignity, and hope; and

WHEREAS, the church is recognized among Peoria County’s historic African American congregations, contributing to the cultural, spiritual, and civic life of the community through worship, service, and steadfast leadership; and

WHEREAS, the congregation has consistently demonstrated a commitment to outreach, education, and ministry, uplifting youth, supporting families, and extending care to neighbors in need throughout the South End of Peoria; and

WHEREAS, for 80 years, Grace Baptist Church has nurtured families, strengthened neighborhoods, and provided a place of refuge, fellowship, and empowerment for all who enter its doors; and

WHEREAS, Grace Baptist Church continues to thrive under the dedicated pastoral leadership of Dr. Claude L. White Jr., and the faithful service of its members, who embody the church’s mission of love, unity, and community transformation;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rita Ali, Mayor of the City of Peoria, Illinois, do hereby recognize and celebrate the 80th anniversary of

GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH
In Peoria, Illinois.
