Happy Labor Day.
Before there was sin, there was work. God placed Adam in the garden "to work it and keep it" — not as punishment, but as purpose. Your hands were made to build something.
And before there was a commandment, there was a rest. God finished His work, then stopped. Not because He was tired, but because rest declares something work never can: the world is held together by Him, not by us.
So today, do both well.
Give thanks for the work — the shift, the classroom, the shop floor, the office, the home. It's not separate from your worship. It *is* worship when it's done unto Him.
And then put it down. Sit on the porch. Eat too much. Nap without guilt. Look at what your hands have done and remember Whose hands hold you.
You were made for the work.
You were made for the rest.
Do both to the glory of God.
