Join Us for the National Day of Prayer for Peace! In 2016, the USCCB called for a National Day of Prayer to be observed each year on September 9th, the Feast of St. Peter Claver. This initiative was introduced as a means to foster open, honest, and respectful dialogue within communities facing heightened tensions and acts of violence. The Feast of St. Peter Claver is an occasion for increased prayer and action to strive for peace in our communities.

The U.S. Bishops’ Ad Hoc Committee Against Racism offers a range of prayer resources to support Catholics in seeking the conversion of hearts and to address the sin of racism. These materials are designed to guide parishes and individuals in meaningful prayer and reflection, especially on the Feast of St. Peter Claver.

Our Partner, Catholic Mobilizing Network, invites you to their 2025 National Catholic Conference on Restorative Justice on September 25-27 in Atlanta, GA.

CMN’s 2025 National Catholic Conference on Restorative Justice takes on the theme Tangible Signs of Hope. Drawing inspiration from the special Jubilee Year 2025, the conference will illuminate concrete examples of where and how Catholics can contribute to restorative justice efforts that transform the U.S. systems of capital punishment and incarceration. Please join the bishops of Florida to pray a novena for an end to the use of Florida's death penalty. We will pray from August 6-14, 2025, concluding on the Memorial of St. Maximilian Kolbe, who was executed in an Auschwitz prison camp in 1941. We will continue to ask the governor to stop signing death warrants. However, prayer is powerful!
