In the gospels people can see that Jesus is different by the way He teaches and the authority He carries. Eventually, His true identity is revealed as His disciples witness miracle upon miracle and sign after sign. All of which point to the Messiah, a fact reinforced by the testimony of the demons that Jesus casts out in many of these miraculous encounters. Jesus knows who we are, but do we recognize Him and His work in our lives? Do we follow the signs back to Christ and trust His divine appointment and authority?

When Jesus said, “I am the gate for the sheep,” he was calling out those who claimed to be “gatekeepers” for access to God. But he was also opening another insight into the unique role he was to play in God’s grand design.

Jesus identified himself as the Light of the World, just as John’s gospel does in the opening verses of chapter one. But in Matthew’s gospel, in what is called The Sermon on the Mount, Jesus also called us “the light of the world.” We need to spend some time unpacking what this important metaphor means.

Shortly after feeding five thousand people with one boy’s lunch, Jesus identifies himself as “the bread of life.” He says this in response to a request to repeat the miracle a second time. The point: Jesus offers a kind of nourishment that goes beyond physical, bodily needs… He is the object of our deep hunger and only after being reconciled through Him are we eternally satisfied.

John’s gospel is written to answer one question: Who is Jesus? But he is not interested so much in the man, Jesus of Nazareth, like the other three gospels, as he is in the exalted Christ. The distinction is echoed by Peter in his Pentecost sermon, “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” (Acts 2:36) He is Lord. He is, as the demons say in Mark 1:24, “The Holy One of God.” Join me on Live Stream on you tube *chp-whorship Sundays at 11:10am

In John’s gospel, Jesus made seven declarations all beginning with the words “I am.” This is the same declaration that God made in the Old Testament as well. Together, these statements offer a multi-faceted view of Jesus, and the ways he impacts everyday life, our struggles, fears, and questions, as well as our hopes and dreams.

The story of Lazarus teaches us that God seldom meets our expectations but instead fulfills our greatest hopes. His timing is not our timing nor are His ways our ways. But He is faithful always, He is worthy to be praised, and He is a safe place for us to put all our hope.

Jesus heals a blind man starting him on a journey of discovery that will last for eternity. The Pharisees show themselves to be the blind ones, as they were well-versed in their scriptures and their laws but they were far from knowing the God of creation whose heart is full of love and light. As Christ followers we must cling to Jesus rather than become like the Pharisees who valued knowing about God more than walking with God.

As we enter the third week of Lent join us for the Series"Let Go"

We live stream Sundays at 11:10 am.

The message is Set Free from Shame
The story of the Samaritan woman perfectly illustrates how God sent Jesus not to condemn the world but to save the world through him. Jesus humbles himself, engages the woman in conversation, and sets her free from shame and guilt. She arrives at the well as a sinner but leaves as a saint. Encounters with God will do that to someone, even YOU!

The full story of the women at the well will be disclosed.

New Series called "Letting Go" Join us live at -worship 11:10 am on Sundays.

Those who are “born anew" lock their focus onto the crucified and resurrected Christ who now dwells in us by the Holy Spirit. Our life starts to look like the life of Jesus: we are daily crucified as we pick up our cross and follow him, but we are also daily resurrected with life, love, and joy. We are immersed (“baptized”) into the life of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. When this happens we have “entered the kingdom of God” that Jesus speaks about.
