When it comes to getting an answer from God when you pray, always remember that he tells us to persevere. Our God loves us, and longs to always hear from us and bless us when we come to him in praise, and prayer. I mention praise because when we talk to God we are either asking him for something, or we are thanking him for something, but before we ask him for anything we can think of, we should thank him for everything that comes to our minds, in the ways he is blessing us. I believe the first thing we should do , when we come to God in prayer, is to thank him for giving us his only begotten son, to die for our sins, so that we could be saved. We read these words in( Matthew 7:7)" Ask and it shall be given you: seek, and ye shall find: knock and it shall be opened unto you"...in this command our Lord is telling us to keep on asking, seeking, and knocking, until we get an answer from him, for he is a faithful, prayer hearing, and a faithful prayer answering God.

As we strive to live for God, our number one goal is to walk in holiness before him. That was the charge given to Adam when God placed him in paradise. He failed, and man has failed ever since. However, our God will always be holy, and he will always command and charge his people to be holy. We read these words in (Hebrews 12:1) "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doeth so easily beset us"... we are also told how to do this in(Hebrews 12:2). "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith"... we come to Christ, and follow him by grace, and through faith, which is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. When we place that same faith in Jesus Christ, and come to God in prayer, he will give us power to live holy lives before him.

When it comes to worshipping the Lord our God we all want to give him worship that is worthy of his name. The problem that plagued the children of God, and got them into trouble was not that they did not worship God, but rather that they worshipped someone, or something more. We read these words in the book of (Romans 1:25)"Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator who is blessed forever amen".... God delivered his people when they were in bo***ge to the Egyptians, with great miracles, but that did not stop them from making and serving a golden calf. When something, or someone is given more of our hearts and time than God, we are guilty of serving the creation, more than the Creator, who is the true source of all our blessings. The devil showed our Lord all the kingdoms of the world, and told him that he would give all of them to him if he would just fall down and worship him. His great reply was, "Get thee hence Satan: for it is written, thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve"( Matthew 4:10). We must always give more of our hearts, and more of ourselves in service to the Creator, then we give to his creation, or we too are guilty of idolatry.

Are you giving God the glory that is due him in your life ? That is what is required of every follower of Jesus Christ, and he told us how to honor him in the book of(Colossians 3:17). "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him"... If we are to honor our God with our lives, we must be careful with our walk, and our talk, and that will require our spending time with him in prayer, and spending time in his word. If we want our walk, and our talk to be right before God, our worship must be right as well. We must come before him daily with praise and prayer, as we study his Holy Word, and apply his word to our lives.

Do we give God the glory that he deserves with our life ? This is one of the most important questions that followers of Jesus Christ can ask themselves. We read these words in (1Corinthians 6:20)" Glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's"...this command is given to every child of God, and is carried out through the power of the Holy Spirit when we spend time alone with God and prayer. We are spirit, soul, and body, and the soul is the seat of our will and emotions. It is with our souls that we choose to make Jesus Christ Lord of our lives, deny ourselves daily, and take up our cross and follow him,( Luke 9:23). When we do this daily, we give him the honor and glory that is worthy of his name.

As we are about to honor fathers on this coming Sunday, (June 21) we need to remember that our true Father, who is in heaven is the one who gave us our earthly fathers and mothers who were used by God to bring us into this world, was the one who gave us his Spirit, by which we were born into this world. The Bible tells us in (James 2:26)" The body without the spirit bis dead"...the spirit comes from God, and was called the breath of life, when God breathed life into Adam.( Genesis 2:7). We thank God for our earthly fathers, especially the ones who honor our heavenly Father and bring us up instructing us in the Word of God. But we must not forget our heavenly Father who makes all life possible, by giving us life through his Spirit, he deserves the greatest honor of all.

When the Lord tells us to discipline our children, he also lets us know that when we do, we demonstrate love. Love is an action word, but we often think that we should be lenient when our children disobey us, but God gives strong commands to fathers to bring up their children in the nurture,or discipline of the Lord. ( Ephesians 6:4). Also we read these words in Proverbs (13:24) "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes"... God says if we love our children we will discipline them when they are wrong. This is how he demonstrates his love for us as well, we read in the book of(Proverbs 3:11) "For whom the Lord loveth he chastened, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth"... God disciplines every child that belongs to him, and there are no exceptions, because he wants all of his children to walk in holiness before him so they can be blessed on the highest level in life.

Do you really treasure the Lord ? Is he highly esteemed in your heart, or is he only a God of convenience, who you only remember when you feel like you need something from him. The Bible says in ( Matthew 621)" For where your treasure is there will your heart be also"... when you give God your whole heart, and put him first in your life, he will pour out his heart to you , and he will make you first in his, there is no greater treasure in this world, and in the world to come.

When you labour for the Lord always remember that you are to live by faith, and you must keep your eyes on Christ , who is the author and finisher of our faith ( Hebrews 12:2). He not only gives us the faith, which is one of the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit, he also grows and perfects that faith that is in us.One of the ways we can grow our faith is to pray and spend time alone with God, meditating over his word. As our faith grows there will be an increase of godly works in our lives. Faith without works is dead, so we demonstrate our faith by the good works we do for our God.
