As of late, I have been studying the topic of “sounds” in the Word. This week, I’ve put a lot of emphasis on “The Sound of Prayer.” Today’s portion of Scripture led me to Jeremiah 33:1–3.

Jeremiah isn’t on a mountaintop; he’s locked up, confined, restricted, and seemingly silenced. And that’s when the Word comes.

Imagine the emotion the prophet of God is feeling. He’s been called to sound a warning to the people of Jerusalem, but instead of heeding the warning and fleeing from sin, they lock him up.

Here are a few things that have stood out to me that I’ve jotted down and wanted to share with you:

1. Failure, resistance, or delay doesn’t cancel God’s voice in your life. His Word will come to you again. (Verse 1)

2. Whatever feels broken, delayed, or confusing in your life, God is saying, “I built this. I can fix this.” (Verse 2)

3. “Call unto me…” There are some things God will only release in response to prayer. (Verse 3)

As summer approaches, my schedule begins to open up due to more free time, and I’m grateful for every opportunity God gives to preach His Word.
