Hope Church is so called because of the HOPE which is ours in Jesus Christ. No one has to tell us that we are living in a world in which there is pain, suffering, and despair. In this kind of world, many people live without meaning, purpose, and hope in their life. However, we believe our lives take on a new dimension, direction, and HOPE because of our commitment to Jesus Christ and to one anothe

r. Within our walls you will see women and men and young people from all different backgrounds who have that HOPE, who give that HOPE to one another in times of need, who bring that HOPE out into our community to the people who need it, and who, together, make up Mt.

Mt Hope celebrated the birthday of the Church - Pentecost. Acts 2 in the Bible records:

"When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability."

Our church baptized an adult, received a new member and wore red to symbolize the Holy Spirit. Rev. Trip preached that if we have a heads UP, and are optimistic, nothing can separate us from God's love in Jesus Christ!

Our Lenten luncheons and programs started Sunday, February 22. The chicken noodle soup, sliders and cookies were delicious, as usual. Trip summarized Flannery O’Connor’s short story, “Parker’s Back, “ and helped us discover its deeper meanings and messages.
Next week David Carlisle will help us experience parts of “Pilgrim’s Progress.” We hope you can join us!

The closing music listed in the bulletin in worship yesterday was Lily Moerschel on cello and Beatrice Kohr on piano playing the lively and fun “Tarentella,” a folk dance from southern Italy. But Rev. Trip suggested we might want to stay a few extra minutes. The choir had gone out but reappeared in gold robes with BLACK stoles! With Doug Bowser singing solo on the verses, the choir sang the Steelers fight song!! Terrific fun. GO STEELERS!
