This Fall, starting next week! Penfield Guitar School is proud to continue offering a very special community guitar class at the Penfield Recreation Department.

Guitar Basics is a fun and engaging group guitar class intended for beginners, or those seeking to improve their fundamentals on the guitar. On Wednesdays, starting 9/9, we are offering a Youth class (5:30-6:30pm) and Adult class (6:30-7:30pm).

Penfield Guitar School - Summer Recital 2026, June 21st 2026

Our summer recital was another huge success! We had over 15 performances from different students playing solo guitar (with some even playing and singing!), ranging from beginners who had just started lessons this year, to "veteran" students who have been playing and taking lessons for several years. The level keeps increasing every recital, and it's always fantastic to see the hard work each student puts in.

Thanks to colleague and collaborator Kenneth Kam for being a part of the recital and helping out with PGS! And a huge thanks to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fairport for hosting us.

Penfield Guitar School holds up to two recitals per year, a Winter recital and a Summer recital. All students are welcome to participate. If you are looking to grow and improve your musical skills and get the opportunity to perform publicly, register for lessons!

This week, Rochester Classical Guitar will be putting on their 5th annual Rochester Guitar Festival 2026, featuring some incredibly special and memorable guitar concerts! Penfield Guitar School is a proud sponsor of the event - be sure to come out and hear some great music!

Our most recent Penfield Guitar School Winter Recital was held on December 14, 2025 - with nearly 20 students performing solo or in a group, and around 70 audience members, this was by far our biggest recital yet! Students of all ages, experience, and level participated in this recital and everyone did a wonderful job 🤘

It has been an amazing first few weeks of the Fall semester at Penfield Guitar School! The current guitar studio is a robust combination of both new students picking up the guitar for the first time, and old students returning to improve their skills and hone their craft.

Though we are a few weeks into the semester, it still isn't too late to register and and start taking lessons!

Happy Spring (nearly summer)! Some important PGS updates:

Penfield Guitar School's 2025 Spring Juries were a great success, with both beginner and advanced students participating this year. Big thanks to guitar instructor Kenneth Kam for being our "guest" instructor and juror this year.
