CHURCH COVENANT
As we aspire to keep Jesus at the center of our lives, we are Rooted in Faith, and Growing in Love. Jesus at the Center of Our Lives
We promise to strive to keep Jesus at the center of our lives by nurturing and developing our own understanding of Jesus’ life and teachings and demonstrating that understanding as we interact with others in the congregation and the larger community.

study of the Scriptures,
b. worshiping together,
and
d. meditation. Growing in Love
As we are rooted in faith and led by the Holy Spirit we:
a. experience God’s redemptive and sustaining grace,
b. grow in the knowledge of God revealed through Jesus,
c. love one another, being slow to judge and quick to forgive,
d. generously contribute time, money, and abilities to the church’s ministry,
e. proclaim the Gospel to those who do not know Jesus as Savior,
f. serve one another,
and
g. strive for purity. We promise to interact with others to help them discover Christ through: education and training, service opportunities, and missions by:
a. instructing others in the Christian faith and in our Baptist heritage,
b. celebrating different views and gifts among us, confident that we are one body in Christ,
and
c. promoting peace and justice whenever we touch other lives. And we promise to seek the kingdom of God, knowing that nothing can separate us from God’s love. We are a community of believers in the one true, living God, who is manifested as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We strive to welcome all people to join us on our faith journey. Our desire is to embody the inclusive ministry of Jesus Christ, recognizing that all people are created in the image of God and that church attendance, participation, membership, and leadership are open to all, without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, mental or physical ability, sexual orientation, education, economic circumstances, marital or family status, or any other distinctions of society. We endeavor to be a welcoming and affirming community of grace for all people, loving our neighbors because God first loved us.

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."
Galatians 5:22-23

For the past few weeks, we have focused on the 5 practices of fruitful churches:
1. Radical Hospitality
2. Passionate Worship
3. Intentional Faith Development
4. Risk-taking Mission and Service
5. Extravagant Generosity

As we seek to be faithful to the fruit-bearing work to which we are called, may we not overlook the essential gift of rest. God commands Sabbath observance, even modeling this in the rhythm of Creation.

This holiday weekend, may we take time to rest, to be renewed, replenished, refilled, and restored with God's abundant grace.

Join us for worship on Sunday at 10:45 am in the sanctuary or on Facebook live (The video will begin streaming at about 10:40 am.) The worship guide and other resources are located on our website, (fbcpendleton.org).

Our next day of service is September 26. For the regulars who are so helpful with litter pick up and clean up before the fall festival - we will have the traditional morning only litter gathering.

We have other activities related to the trails and walking paths and other "things that need attention" around town that will take longer but we will still have a lunch break.

We are having our volunteer appreciation lunch so please join us for that and a small gift of appreciation.
We have bird house building for kids.

Please sign up so we can plan on your participation.

An important reminder shared by Pastor Jennifer this past Sunday! We can say what we believe, but it’s even more powerful to put it into practice with tangible action. 🤍

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."
Galatians 5:22-23

Fruitful churches give generously, because giving is part of how we live out our faith. Jesus teaches in Luke 12:13-21 that life is not about accumulating more and more possessions. In Deuteronomy 26:1-11, God instructs the people to bring the first of their resources as an act of worship. What might God be calling you to give as an act of worship and expression of faith?

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."
Galatians 5:22-23

As followers of Jesus, we are called to bear fruit - good fruit that is greatly needed by our neighbors and the world. Bearing fruit requires work and commitment, as well as intentionality and risk-taking.

Jesus told a story about a farmer who sowed seed; some of it produced a harvest, and some did not. Sometimes (but not always) our efforts yield results; we are called to keep planting seeds, trusting the results to God.

Robert Schnase identifies 5 practices of fruitful congregations. This Sunday, we will take a closer look at two of these practices: Intentional Faith Development and Risk-Taking Mission and Service. (Last week we considered Radical Hospitality and Passionate Worship, and next week we will focus on Extravagant Generosity.)
