enjoy God, embrace life together, and engage our world. Creekside Church started as a faith community in the early 1960's in the home of Guy & Dorthy Delamarter. While we celebrate our rich and distinctive heritage in the evangelical holiness tradition and our unique place among Pendleton's churches, we also affirm that we a

re part of the larger Body of Christ stretching across the boundaries of denominations, traditions, cultures, and nations. Although we sometimes fall short of our own ideals, we’ve tried to capture the answer to these questions in our mission statement:

Enjoying God – For many people, the words enjoy and God don’t seem to go together. But we believe that when we truly grasp the good news about God’s love for us, expressed most fully in His Son Jesus Christ, we will understand that God is inviting us into a relationship with Himself that is meant to be enjoyed. As one ancient Christian teaching put it, “The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.”

Embracing Life Together – The Christian life is meant to be lived and shared in community. When we enter into relationship with God, we become part of His Family, the Church. The Church isn’t a building or an organization or a denomination, it’s people who are following Jesus together. Like most families, we’re not perfect, but we try to be there for each other through the ups and downs of life, embracing it together. Engaging Our World – John 3:16 may be the best known verse in the Bible: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jesus came into the world and died on the cross because God loves the world so much. To love God means to love what God loves, and we believe you can’t love God and follow Jesus without engaging the world with that same love. That’s our aim in a nutshell. It’s why we exist. We don’t always get it right. We fall short of our ideals often. But by God’s grace, and through His love for us in Jesus, we keep reaching for it.
