We struggle as Christians in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Bible addresses these issues and provides wisdom on how to overcome them.

1. Love for the World
• 1 John 2:15-16 – “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world.”
• Many are distracted by materialism, entertainment, or worldly success, making it hard to focus on their faith.

2. Spiritual Lukewarmness
• Revelation 3:15-16 – “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”
• Some Christians become complacent, treating faith as a routine rather than a deep, personal relationship with Christ.

3. Deception and False Teaching
• 2 Timothy 4:3-4 – “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
• Many are led astray by teachings that dilute the gospel, emphasizing comfort rather than true discipleship.

4. Unwillingness to Carry Their Cross
• Luke 9:23 – “Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.’”
• True discipleship requires sacrifice, but many avoid discomfort and suffering for Christ.

5. Lack of Spiritual Discipline
• Matthew 26:41 – “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
• Prayer, Bible study, and fellowship are essential, yet many neglect these habits, making their faith weak.

6. Fear of Persecution or Rejection
• John 12:42-43 – “Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved human praise more than praise from God.”
• Some fear rejection from society, family, or friends, leading them to keep their faith private or compromised.

7. Hardness of Heart
• Hebrews 3:12-13 – “See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
• Sin, when left unchecked, dulls a person’s sensitivity to God and leads them further away.

How Can We Overcome This?
1. Seek First God’s Kingdom – Matthew 6:33
2. Renew Your Mind Daily – Romans 12:2
3. Stay Connected to Christ – John 15:5
4. Surround Yourself with Other Believers – Hebrews 10:25
5. Put on the Armor of God – Ephesians 6:10-18

Like anything else you want to be successful at doing, you have to work at it!
