2 Samuel 15:1-12 begins the account of Absalom's conspiracy against his father, King David. At first, Absalom does not take the throne by force. He captures the people's hearts through appearance, accessibility, flattery, deception, and manipulation. His ambition turns him from a son seeking restoration into a man determined to claim the throne. The passage warns that ambition becomes spiritually destructive when even a good desire, or something God has promised, is pursued through sinful means and valued above God Himself. When ambition matters more than obedience, we manipulate people, compromise truth, and try to seize what God has not given in His way or His time.

If I could offer one piece of parenting advice, it would be this: don't rush your kids to grow up. Enjoy chasing them. Challenge them to push themselves. Take them outside to explore God's incredible creation. Slow down and watch them take it all in. Choose time with them over money. Treasure the ordinary moments, and thank God every day for the incredible gift of being a parent, because one day you'll realize those little feet you've been chasing have grown up.
