Gates of Eden Gates of Eden is a Messianic congregation in Pekin, IL, and also the Botkin Bimonthly teaching magazine of the same name. It is not sent by email.

Follow this page for updates, teachings, and events. The Gates of Eden Botkin Bimonthly started as an 8-page newsletter in 1995 with articles and comics by Daniel Botkin. Over the years it has grown and is now a 36-page magazine featuring in-depth Bible studies, thought-provoking articles, and zany comics. It is printed on real paper and delivered to readers' homes.

Our youngest daughter, Autumn Sunshine, 24, has Down syndrome and autism. People with Down syndrome are mentally re****ed. When used in a non-pejorative way, the word re****ed means “delayed.” Autumn’s language learning was delayed, but she learned to speak. She could count, recite the alphabe...

There are two important aspects of our faith I want to discuss. First I want to discuss the importance of having a clear focus from the right position. Then I want to address the object of our faith, i.e., the question of which aspect of our faith deserves the most attention.AN UNCLEAR FOCUS FROM TH...

Suppose an evil man plans to abduct, abuse, and murder a child. Each day he hides in a clump of trees by a playground in a park. He waits and watches for an opportunity to carry out his plan. One day his opportunity comes. A young mother and her four year old daughter are at the playground and no on...

Approximately 200 years before Christ, Jewish scholars translated the Hebrew Bible into Greek. This Greek translation is called the Septuagint. The Septuagint can help us see how Jews at that time understood the Hebrew Scriptures. I want us to look at one phrase in Amos as an example. In Amos 6, the...

For Jews and Christians, Abraham is the father of our faith. We do not want to dishonor Abraham by criticizing him, but at the same time, we have to acknowledge that the flaws of Father Abraham are written in the Holy Scriptures. Obviously our heavenly Father wants us to know about Abraham’s flaws...

Yes, I have read the Book of Enoch. No, it is not supposed to be in the canon of Scripture. I first read Enoch when I was living in Israel in 1977 and borrowed it from a friend. I thought it might be a rare book and unavailable in the U.S., so I wrote down notes summarizing the entire content of the...
