St. The original building was consecrated in 1767, making St. Peter's one of only a handful of pre-Revolution chu

rches still active in our diocese. This landmark still stands in Van Cortlandtville at the corner of Oregon Road and Locust Avenue and is used for special services.The first church of St. Peter's parish built on the present site was a wood Gothic structure erected in 1829. It was replaced in 1890 by the present stone building which was designed by well-known architect Richard Upjohn and consecrated on January 13, 1891. Today our congregation is an active, vibrant community with many ministries in which all parishioners are invited to participate. There is something for everyone, a place where each person can find a smaller and more intimate group within the congregation. These groups are ministries both to the congregation and to the community at large, and they are open to all interested parishioners.
