Tuesday Truth:
It’s easy to notice who’s at church. But do we notice who isn’t?

Jesus told about a shepherd who had one hundred sheep and realized one was missing. Ninety-nine were still there, but one mattered enough to go looking.

“What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine… and go after that which is lost?” (Luke 15:4, KJV)

Caring for people isn’t only the pastor’s job. We are the body of Christ, and we’re supposed to care for one another.

Maybe someone hasn’t been around lately. Maybe they’re struggling. Maybe they’re discouraged. Maybe life simply got hard.

You don’t need a title to reach out.
Send the text. Make the call. Ask, “Are you okay?” And mean it.

Sometimes ministry looks like preaching to a crowd.

Sometimes it looks like noticing one person is missing.

Be the kind of church family that notices. ❤️

We asked our kids what jobs our pastor, First Lady, and ministers would have if they weren’t serving in their current role at Union Hill.

Let’s just say… some of them might need to consider a career change. 😂

But behind all the laughs are some pretty special people who are helping shape the next generation.

We are incredibly thankful our pastors who lead, preach, pray, serve, and love this church. It was a joy to take time yesterday to honor Bud & Christine and their faithfulness to Union Hill.

But one of the things we were reminded of is that it takes a whole church family to do the work God has called us to do. Ministry was never meant to be done alone.

Pastors and ministers. Board members. Teachers. Musicians. Volunteers. Prayer warriors. The people who serve publicly and the ones who quietly see what needs done and do it.

We’re thankful for our pastors, and thankful for a church family willing to serve alongside them.

A lot of “I do’s” have been spoken inside these walls. But a Christ-centered marriage is about so much more than a wedding day.

Through the years, Union Hill has had the privilege of watching our members begin their marriages here, surrounded by their church family and grounded in biblical premarital counseling with our ministers.

The dresses and hairstyles may have changed a little. The commitment before God hasn’t.

Some of the most important ministry happens where nobody sees it. The lesson prepared at home. The phone call checking on someone. The prayer before anyone arrives. The meeting after everyone leaves. The person who notices something needs done and simply does it. And behind it all are people who believe the work of the church is worth doing together.

This Sunday, we’ll celebrate that kind of service while taking special time to honor our pastors and thank them for faithfully leading Union Hill. Emilee McCann will be preaching, and we’ll share dinner together in the fellowship hall after morning worship.

Let’s fill the house and say thank you, not only with our words, but by worshipping and celebrating together.

There are moments in worship when the lyrics become your testimony.

“Thank You Jesus for the blood applied…”

Because of Jesus, our sins are forgiven, our shame is removed, and our hope is secure. The cross changed our eternity.

As Becky leads this powerful worship song, we pray it reminds you of the incredible price Jesus paid and the amazing grace He freely gives.

Our Union Hill Church family is heartbroken by the passing of Shannon Swayne. But even in our grief, we have so much to thank God for.

Just a few years ago, Shannon gave his heart to the Lord, and what a transformation God made in his life! He didn’t keep what God had done for him to himself. He began sharing his faith with friends, and because of his witness, several came to church and were even baptized.

Shannon also had a heart for giving. He helped purchase Christmas gifts for children through our Christmas sharing program, making sure those children experienced love and kindness during the Christmas season.

Shannon’s life reminds us that one of the greatest gifts we can leave our families is a testimony of knowing Jesus.

We never expected to be saying goodbye so soon. But while we grieve his passing, we don’t grieve without hope. Because Shannon made the decision to follow Jesus, we have the blessed assurance that this goodbye is not forever.

We thank God for the work He did in Shannon’s heart, for the lives Shannon touched, and for the testimony he leaves behind.

Please join us in praying for Shannon’s family and all who loved him in the days ahead.
