Word of Life Community Church

Word of Life Community Church A mission to exalt Jesus Christ, evangelize those without a personal relationship with Him, firmly establish believers in the faith, and serve the community

We desire to equip believers to know and share the truth of God's Word. If you are considering joining us as our guest or have recently done so, we offer you a warm welcome. We aspire to be a body of believers who understand God's teachings revealed to us through the Holy Bible and are equipped to share that truth with others. Located in the Southern Kansas City Metropolitan area, Word of Life (a

Southern Baptist Affiliate) is a Church who seeks to be an asset to members of the surrounding community and beyond. Word of life is small enough to feel like family, yet large enough to contain believers of a variety of ages and backgrounds. Our prayer is that you will experience the abundant life of a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ (John 10:10). At Word of Life, spiritual growth is realized through worship services, regular study of God's word, serving the needs of others and spending time in fellowship with other believers. Sunday School - Sunday, 9:30 am

Worship Service - Sunday, 10:30 am

Sunday evening Worship & Bible study, Children's Choir - Sunday, 6:00 pm

Mid-week service - Wednesday, 7:00 pm

Just a heads up for those who use the Peculiar (J highway) bridge to get to church.

That bridge will be shut down for construction on April 28. I’m not sure how long the project will take.

I do not know if it will affect the southern traffic.

For those coming in from the north or west, I would suggest Peculiar Way exit.

Our team leaves for Zambia on Friday, 8/23. Here is a list of our Zambia Prayer Requests

Team members: Andrew Busakula, Adrey Dove, Keith Gibson. Pray that we bond well and minister well as a team. Pray for Andrew to have wisdom as he leads us. Pray for our preparation as all of us will be teaching at some point. Pray for God to work powerfully in us to transform our lives and powerfully through us to transform the lives of those with whom we interact. Pray for our families safety and well-being while we are away from them.
Travel: Pray for safe flights and for us to make all our connections in Chicago and Dohar. Pray that our luggage all arrives with us. Pray that we make it through customs without difficulty. Pray for us to be able to sleep on the long flight. We leave Friday afternoon and do not arrive in Lusaka until Sunday morning. Pray for the bus ride to Solwezi on Monday.
Rolling blackouts. Zambia is enduring load sharing for electricity due to a drought. Most of their electricity comes from the river and the low water volume means they cannot produce enough electricity for the need. Pray that this doesn’t interfere with our mission.
Health: Pray that we will be able to sleep well. Pray for our careful practice of sanitation methods. Pray that none of the people will be offended at the extra measures we use to avoid illness. Help us to also trust God to keep us well or to be glorified through our illness.
Ministry: Pray for the work we do on the library. Pray for the granting of the final NGO paperwork for the library, Pray for the scheduling of the shipping container with the books. We also plan to do a couple of work projects at the library and possibly and activity.
Pray for the various teaching times, the marriage conference, the pastors conference, the general sessions at Camp Kabisapi and the youth session (age up 35 yrs old) and the teaching by Andrew and Adrey there. Pray for other opportunities that may arise. Pray for wisdom.
Pray for the translators. Pray that the best translators will be chosen for us. Pray that they will understand our accents. Pray they will be able to read their own Bible (Bukku wa Lesa- or Book of God) Pray that they will have enough knowledge of theology to know the ki-kaonde equivalent so the people get the proper understanding
Pray for God to grant power and authority to the proclamation of His Word. Pray that the messages would pierce the hearts of those who hear them. Pray that God would open hearts and bring repentance from sin and extend the call that brings people to salvation.
Pray that we would all have deep connections with the people. Pray that these friendships would lead them to deeper commitment to Christ (and us too). There is much we can learn from the Zambian people. Pray for us to be teachable.
Pray that our gifts of ministry and friendship will have the proper impact to the glory of Christ.
Pray that our presence would encourage the believers and strengthen their commitment.
Personal: Pray that we can capture some of their joy and bring it home and infect our entire church with it.
Pray that this would be a time of clarifying for each of us. Ask God to show us how our day to day ministry should be changed. Pray that God would reveal more of Himself to us. Let us be attentive to what God is doing.
Pray that we do not lose focus on the purpose of the mission as we struggle with fatigue, unusual food, lack of electricity, lack of warm showers etc. Pray that we do not succumb to whining and feeling sorry for ourselves and being irritable.
Thank you for joining with us. Pray that Great Things are accomplished and Jesus Christ is glorified.
