Effective March 31, 2025 this organization Is dissolved. All assets have been liquidated pursuant to state law.

Notice is hereby given this the 21st day of March, 2025.

All,
In August I will be leaving for a year as a participant of the Rotary Youth Exchange program (I have tons of preparation work to do like learning another language and will not have time for anything else). I will no longer have the ability to manage our organization, and I believe we have completed our goal of restoring the cemetery and it only needs routine maintenance. Therefore, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to dissolve the organization and in accordance with state law the funds will be transferred to a nonprofit org. The local Sons of Confederate Veterans organization in Picayune, MS will receive the rest of the funds totaling $611.15 under the agreement that if we ever need something for the cemetery, they will give it to us. The effective date of dissolution is March 31, 2025. I will close the account soon. We will continue to maintain the cemetery as a family.

This past weekend, we formally dedicated the statue, a blessed mother, by Father Michael O’Connor of our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Also, we were able to bless and erect the statue in memory of all those enslaved African-Americans at the Doby plantation. These two projects we are very happy to have completed before 2025 the monument to the enslaved is something we are very proud to have done to forever engrave and confront our families most complex parts in history. Unfortunately, due to impending weather, we were unable to have representatives from the Hancock County Branch, NAACP with us who we have been honored to partner with on this project we want to thank all those who financially contributed for the completion of these two projects. Lastly, we laid evergreen Christmas wreaths on the veteran graves as part of the Wreaths Across America national program.

We are so happy to annouce that we have now meet our fundraising goal of $468.75 to erect the monument to those enslaved at the Doby Plantation. Thanks to the VERH generous support of Keesler Federal Credit Union and Coast Electric Power Assn!

Earlier today I had the honor to speak to the Rotary Club of Bay St Louis about our association and our cemetery. We can’t thank them enough for inviting us!
