Pr***ens (grades 4-6) are at a unique place in life -- not little kids anymore but not yet teenagers -- and they have unique needs as they grow in their faith. Pr***en Midweek meets them where they are, enables them to build friendships in a fun and welcoming environment, and gives them a place to learn about the God who loves them!

Family discipleship stands as a core value at Parkway and Big Bible Presentation is a key marker along our Family Discipleship Journey. When kids reach 1st grade, they move up to "big church" and their parents let them know how important God's Word is by giving them a Bible they can read for themselves! Parents are the primary spiritual guides for their children, but our church family is called to come alongside them as they lead their children. So, what are some ways you can help?

1. Model a love for God's Word. Bring your Bible to church. Let our Parkway kids see you engaging with the pages of Scripture. The Bible on your phone is convenient, but kids can't tell if you're in Galatians or on Facebook. 🤣 Let them see you hunting for Habakkuk, scribbling notes in the margins, and learning right along with them.

2. Welcome them in big church. During the welcome time, don't just hug or shake hands with Mom and Dad. Make a point to say 'good morning' and interact with the kids in the worship service, too. This simple act will enable them to know they are a vital part of our church family.

3. Pray for them. Pray for each child and their families. It's okay if you don't remember all their names. God knows them! 😊 Ask Him to lead them to come to know Him at a young age and follow Him all through their lives.

We will share more photos from our Big Bible Presentation later, but we just wanted to sit with this one for a moment: Pastor David praying over children and their families as our first graders move up to "big church" and receive their own Bibles.

One photo captures the foundational elements of their spiritual journeys - prayer, the Word of God, and living in community with other believers. Church, don't miss this! You play a vital role in the life of each of these first graders. They will "read" your life as much as they will read the Bible in their hands, and will learn from you how to live in ways that honor Jesus. They will be covered by your prayers, strengthened by your love, and inspired by your testimonies. What a privilege you have to be a part of their story!
