Pope Francis proclaims “Year of St. Joseph”

The Holy Father has proclaimed a “Year of St. Joseph” from Dec 8 2020, to Dec 8, 2021. Pope Francis says during this period, the faithful will have the opportunity to commit themselves “with prayer and good works, to obtain, with the help of St. Joseph, head of the heavenly Family of Nazareth, comfort and relief from the serious human and social tribulations that besiege the contemporary world today.”

St. John Paul II stated “This patronage [of St. Joseph] must be invoked as ever necessary for the Church, not only as a defense against all dangers, but also, and indeed primarily, as an impetus for her renewed commitment to evangelization in the world and to re-evangelization in those lands and nations where religion and the Christian life were formerly flourishing and are now put to a hard test.” (JPII)

The Marian Servants of Jesus the Lamb of God would like to offer you an opportunity to get to know St. Joseph better by leading a consecration to St. Joseph using Fr. Calloway’s book, Consecration to St. Joseph: The Wonders of our Spiritual Father.

What exactly is consecration to St. Joseph? Well, it means that you ask him to be your spiritual father, and you want to be like him. To show it, you entrust yourself entirely to his paternal care so that he can lovingly help you acquire his virtues and become holy. Already consecrated to the Blessed Mother? No problem, you are not a member of a single-parent spiritual family. Mary is your spiritual mother, and St. Joseph is your spiritual father

What is required to do this consecration? A willing heart, Fr. Calloway’s book, and commitment to read/pray daily and meet via zoom weekly. If you are interested, contact Maureen Roberts 601-278-0423 or Teresa Preuss 601-906-1338 or email [email protected] and let us know. We will hold Zoom meetings on Tuesdays Feb 9 - Mar 16 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm to pray and discuss the assigned reading from the book. Meetings will be held via internet by computer or cell phone with data service. Make this your prolife commitment this year!

"In the spiritual life there are two great principles which should never be forgotten: Without grace we can do nothing; with it we can do all things. Sometimes it anticipates our desires; ordinarily, God waits till we ask for it. This is a general law thus expressed by Our Lord: 'Ask, and it shall be given to you.' Prayer is, therefore, not only a precept, it is a necessity. God places the treasure of His graces at our disposal, and its key is prayer. You desire more faith, more hope, more love; 'ask, and it shall be given to you.' Your good resolutions remain sterile, resulting always in the same failures: 'ask, and it shall be given to you'. Precepts are numerous, virtue painful, temptation seductive, the enemy ruthless, the will weak: 'ask, and it shall be given to you.'"
