Worry versus Worship
by Elaine Hall
“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Matthew 6:27

In the New Testament, the most common Greek word for worry is merimnao, which translates to a divided mind, pulled in different directions, distracted, or feeling anxious. While people are dodging all of life’s curve balls, the knee-jerk reaction is to yield to panic instead of peace. According to the Word, that’s the opposite of what God wants you to do.
Philippians 4:6-7 reads: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
“Do not be anxious about anything.” That’s a big ask. When the roof is leaking, the car tires are bald, your fifth-grader is struggling in school, and rumors are flying about lay-offs at work, you may answer, “How am I not supposed to be worried about all that’s going on my life?” The next part of that verse states: “...in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” You may argue the thanksgiving part. “Are you kidding me? Don’t you watch the news? The world has gone crazy!” But verse 7 says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding…” Trust Him in every situation — large or small. You may not foresee the outcome now, but He does, and He’ll carry you through.
When you were a kid, your parents likely didn’t allow you to do certain things: don’t cross the street alone; never get in a car with a stranger; don’t swim without a life vest. They cautioned you on those actions to keep you safe. How much more will the Father do to
protect you; to avoid your falling into a worse condition than you’re already in?
Consider Isaiah 55:8-9: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My
ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher
than your ways, And my thoughts than your thoughts.” He already knows the issues and solutions to the life challenges you face. Worry won’t help; surrendering to His authority will.
Jeremiah 1:5 says: “Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart.” Luke 12:7 further illustrates the depth of God’s knowledge of and concern for His people: “But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” He knows you intimately and is aware of your problems; every single one.
How can you turn off the doubt, the fear, the worry? Get to work, not at your job, but on your faith. Review 1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” The One Who said the words to create the galaxies out of nothing cherishes you far more than the human brain can fathom. Trust the Father; not a single situation is too difficult for Him.
Put on your praise music and worship Him for Who He is: Way Maker.
Miracle Worker.
Promise Keeper.
Light in the darkness.
If you’re having trouble letting those lyrics sink in, or your mind wanders, consider the source. Satan wants to barricade your tender communion with Jesus as He sits at the right hand of God, advocating for you. While you pray, the devil wants to divert your focus onto a life embroiled in chaos. End the conflict. If you’re worrying, you’re not worshiping. If you’re stressed out, you’re
not praising Him, not glorifying Him, not surrendering to Him all your concerns. Spiraling in a hurricane of distraction and anxiety, you may feel life is out of control. Be still. Listen for the reassurance in His voice. There, you will find His peace within your storm.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

Help Us Keep Hope Alive Through Education.

At Shine Collective, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream of a brighter future. Today, we still need $4,460 to keep more than 50 children in school both within and beyond our Shine family.

Education is more than books and classrooms—it is hope, dignity, and a chance for a better tomorrow. We humbly ask our friends, sponsors, and well-wishers to stand with us in this mission.

As God's Word reminds us:
"Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done." — Proverbs 19:17

Every gift, no matter the size, brings a child one step closer to staying in school and pursuing their God-given purpose.
Please join us in making a difference. Together, through faith, love, and generosity, we can ensure that no child is left behind.

Be the reason a child steps into school with hope this term.

School has officially started, but many of our children are still waiting for the chance to return to class.
At Shine Collective (CFH), we are still raising $4,800 to help 54 children go back to school this term. Every dollar given is more than school fees — it is hope, education, protection, and a brighter future for a child in need.
Your support can change a life forever.
