Some survival habits are hard to let go of when they were the very things that once kept you safe.
Before we entered the family of God, we were spiritual orphans. A lot of us come into relationship with Jesus carrying old survival tactics, coping mechanisms, fears, and patterns that were built in seasons of pain, instability, or striving. And instead of shaming us, the Father patiently reminds us, over and over again:
“There will be another dinner tomorrow.”
The Christian life is not about pretending the old self never existed. It’s about slowly learning to trust that God really is who He says He is, and that His care for you is not going anywhere.
You are not an orphan anymore.
