Wishing all of our parishioners, families, and followers a blessed and peaceful weekend ahead! We encourage everyone to take a few moments to read this week’s edition of The Saltire for important parish news, upcoming events, and opportunities to serve.

This Sunday, May 24th, we will gather for one combined service at 9:00 AM as we celebrate both The Day of Pentecost and St. Andrew’s 50th Anniversary! Following the service, we invite everyone to stay for a churchwide potluck fellowship — please bring a dish to share as we celebrate this joyful milestone together.

Inside this week’s Saltire, you’ll also find details regarding:
• St. Andrew’s June–July Outreach supporting the Summer Lunch Program
• Updates on St. Andrew’s 50th Jubilee Program Ad Booklet
• Upcoming parish announcements and opportunities for fellowship and service

Please note that the church office will be closed on Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day. As we enjoy the holiday weekend, we give heartfelt thanks and remembrance to the men and women who faithfully served and sacrificed for our country. May we honor their memory with gratitude and prayer.

Normal Rite I (8:00 AM) and Rite II (10:00 AM) Sunday services will resume on Trinity Sunday, May 31st.

Blessings to all for a joyful Pentecost and a wonderful week ahead!

St. Andrew's May Outreach - Supporting Bloom:

Throughout the month of May, we are partnering with Bloom to support children entering foster care by collecting items for “First Night Bags.”

These bags are given to children who are often placed into care with little notice and few belongings, helping to bring comfort and dignity during a difficult transition.

We are collecting the following items to include in backpacks:

Toiletries (full-sized): toothbrushes & toothpaste, brush or comb, deodorant, bar of soap
Stuffed animals
Adult-sized socks
Activity books: word searches, puzzle books, and similar games

In addition, the ECW will be creating soft fleece blankets with cut and knotted edges, offering each child something cozy to hold onto.

We’ll share details soon for a hands-on day where you can join in making these blankets.

Thank you for your generosity and for helping us provide comfort, care, and a sense of belonging to children in need.

For additional details or any questions, please feel free to reach out to Joyce Cannon.

This week’s edition of The Saltire is now available, and we encourage everyone to take a moment to read through all of the wonderful upcoming worship opportunities, fellowship events, outreach ministries, and parish news happening at St. Andrew’s!

Please note that the Brotherhood of St. Andrew meeting scheduled for Sunday, May 10th has been cancelled in observance of Mother’s Day. The next meeting will occur on Sunday, June 14th.

This Sunday, St. Andrew’s will joyfully observe both Mother’s Day and Rogation Sunday. As we give thanks for mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, spiritual mothers, and all who nurture others with love and care, we also hold space for those for whom this day may be tender or difficult. May all know they are deeply loved, valued, and welcomed within our parish family. 💐

As part of our Rogation Sunday observance, parishioners and guests are invited to bring any seeds or soil they would like blessed during the service as we pray for God’s blessing upon the earth, creation, gardens, and all who labor and grow. 🌱

Be sure to check out the WNS+ menu for May 13th included within this week’s Saltire and mark your calendars to join us for our final WNS+ gathering of the season before summer break! This special evening will include a panel discussion reflecting on the past 50 years of St. Andrew’s life and ministry amd will be a meaningful time of remembrance, gratitude, and celebration.

Please join us in prayer for The Rev. Tom Barnett, former Interim Priest in Charge of St. Andrew’s, following an update we received this morning from his wife, Lynann.

Tom has been in treatment for Stage 4 metastatic melanoma since October and has recently experienced a rapid decline.

He has been hospitalized since Monday. While he remains alert and strong in spirit, his body is failing, and hospice care has now been arranged at home.

We give thanks for Tom’s faithful ministry among us and lift him, Lynann, and their family in prayer—asking God to surround them with His peace, strength, and abiding presence.

We pray for as many grace-filled days as God will bless them with.

Father of all, we pray to you for Tom, and for all those whom we love. Grant him comfort, peace, and rest in your loving care. Let your light shine upon him and sustain him. Amen.

Grant, O Lord, to all who are in need the spirit of faith and courage, that they may have strength to meet the days to come with steadfastness and patience; not sorrowing as those without hope, but in thankful remembrance of your great goodness, and in the joyful expectation of eternal life with those they love. And this we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

We will keep the parish informed of any updated information that is received regarding Fr. Tom.
